The goal tend. Pffft. Get a grip folks.

Okay, I take it back...we played great today. We shot well and rebounded well and deserved to win this game. Better?

By the way I don't think WVU played great either. We won ugly. I'll take it. But we need to get better and I think everyone here knows it. Well, mantonio thinks we DOMINATED the game, so everyone but mantonio knows it.

I think saying we played well enough to win would be a fair statement and I will accept that. :)

The goal tend was so obvious. How the hell can three refs miss it? And Baye also put his arm through the net too. So they really missed two goal tends on one play.

Please go back and look at the replay. Baye's hand moved the net because of his angle of approach, but he most definitely did not put his hand up through the rim, in case that's what you were suggesting.

We can all certainly agree to disagree on whether we "deserved" to win, or if the selection committee will even remotely remember this result (which would have tied the game and given the ball to us with plenty of time left). I think the first notion is a huge waste of time and a reflection of the human element of the game (especially when things are happening at full speed); we've been on the losing end of such calls. I think the second suggestion about the committee is just plain crazy. And like Dick, I'm not sorry at all that WVU was deprived a tie--not a win--in its last several seconds.

Let's take this game for what it is: yet another demonstration of Fab's importance to the team, as well as our need to tighten up immensely on the boards and on D. (Lots of other lessons, too.) But let's not go feeling badly about a win. I certainly won't. And this is from a guy who spent K through 12 in Catholic schools, so I've got a massive propensity for guilt.

GO ORANGE

I meant what I said...Baye put his hand through (into) the actual net...not the rim. That is not allowed. I don't feel guilty at all about the win. I meant I didn't think we played well today and probably didn't deserve to win based on our play.

That's fine. I think you're just wasting your time with this "probably didn't deserve to win" business. Understood if you disagree.

Were you at the game? I don't think ESPNU ever had a good shot of Kris getting run over. I believe you but they used a weird baseline angle and I didn't see it well.
Yes, from the TV shot it initially looked like KJo had established possession, so I was surprised to see WVa awarded the ball. I couldn't see what transpired, and the announcers were too busy still babbling about the goaltend play.

They also missed the obvious travel on Jones' three the WV trip before the goal tend. The WV G dragged him pivot a good foot. I couldn't believe they missed it. Then he passed to Jones who canned the 3 to tie the game. I hate refs, they miss waaaay too many calls. But like you said this was like the Toledo game.

No one said we played great.

I thought you could touch the net without it being goaltending? I think this came up in an NBA game last spring.

I don't think so. Can anyone clarify. You might be right?

Many shotblockers get away with goaltending because it is a bang bang play. Ewing used to do it all the time in college but you didn't have all the talking heads and so much instant replay.

Im starting to like this style of victory better. A nice little you send off to the big12 for the mounties.
