The Head Coach has been the issue since Day 1

I for one was singing the Hodgson praises last season, but if this is true, what a classless thing to do. Hopefully Red uses this as bulletin board material for himself. Oh and USF lost to GW. 16 points and 7 rebounds for Trey!

I struggle to believe that. What would even be the point of a comment like that?

I have a hard time believing that because if it was true, Syracuse would never hire Hodgson if they had the opening in the future.

If it's true he's a world-class a hole.

I’m really surprised and so pleased to see us playing the kind of man to man, high pressure, switching defense that we’ve shown so far. It was certainly hard to have faith that Coach Autry and his staff had the ability to install and execute this 180 degree turnaround in defensive style from the Boeheim days. The first couple of cracks at it were so poor that it really didn’t seem fathomable. The zone had certainly gone stale and a need for change was something probably 90% of us wanted. What it changed to initially was so disheartening that some were asking for the zone back.

Excited to be seeing modern defensive basketball, and to also see the sharing of the ball on offense so far is beyond encouraging. Great job by Red and his staff, credit for working hard to recreate a defensive culture. I was skeptical it would happen under this regime. So glad to be wrong so far. Hope that it can continue when JJ returns as he was a part of the prior squads who struggled. If he’s not cutting it, will be on the coaches to have the guts to demand it or consequences of a reduced role.

Go Cuse!

The poster added a bit of context. Apparently Trey wasn’t exactly quiet in the handshake line either, so he may have provoked it. That said, very immature of Hodgson to respond. Shows bad judgment. I do like him as a potential replacement if Red doesn’t work out, but this gives me pause.

I mean, it's not immature if it didn't happen. Like, what are we talking about here, one random person on the internet concocting a story that not one other person has corroborated?

I completely agree with this assessment, and certainly how character and coaching go hand-in-hand. In fact, they are inseparable and Coach Autry definitely I believe has the character, trusting very much for every other part as well. Nevertheless, I have no idea if true or not, but that honestly reminds me of some of the comments that I read on this board ridiculously frequently And I would say that is even more foul because that is the coach we have at the present time. I trust and pray he makes fools eat their words, but fools typically look for any kind of weakness and try to expose it, even if they succeed for a little while. People who have weathered a little life, however must be aware of that and stay true to the WHY. I hope Red can do that.

Listen, I loved Adrian Autry as a player. The '94 game vs. Missouri remains one of the all-time impressive performances by an SU player, even in a loss (the and-one that wasn't from the knees!).

But I don't see how anyone can look at the situation we have and state they have ever felt that the current head coach had a handle on what to do with this program in order to succeed.

First, it was lack of preparation for the portal due to being hired late (he wasn't). Then, it was lack of NIL resources. Now, what's the excuse?

This team has PLENTY of talent to win games. And I am hopeful they prove me wrong and he proves me wrong -- certainly the LeMoyne exhibition is vividly etched in my memory as a cautionary tale to read too much into these games.

However, I continue to see the same things over and over again with the way this team plays. Lack of focus, lack of energy, lack of plan or system. It's not Syracuse basketball.
Sad

Empty stadium will echo loudly that this has to end.

Autry is a failure. Lazy internal hire.
Not a coach.

Great recruiter. But I can buy great ingredients and still poison people with bad cooking.

Don't be so hard on yourself Red. You're still learning. Takes time to not suck
