(stating the obvious here) is that we didn't show up. The team lacked intensity for the first 2 1/2 quarters in this game. After the energy we saw against LSU, followed by a bye week, it was so frustrating to see that.
Secondarily, I was frustrated by our conservative play calling during the first half. Maybe it was designed to let Dungey get his feet wet again slowly, but it sure put us in a tough spot. Things were so much better once the offense opened up.
I get that we're a young team, 1st game on the road, and the talent is what we have. You can't control that. But you have to maximize what you do have control over, and we didn't in this game.
I really want to like Shafer, Lester, and the coaching staff, but I think they sometimes fall short in preparing the team and the game plan. I hope they come ready to play next week.
