The Official: Dion Waiters Should Start Petition

Seriously.

No, we're starting slow, but you've got to still have Scoop in the mix. There will be games where he's the reason we win. And he did have 14 points today.

But if he isn't going to make his foul shots, and if he's going to turn it over that much, he's not going to be on the floor at the end of the half or the end of the game.

A couple more slow starts and you have to seriously consider it. If Scoop continues to come in with no sense of urgency we will really get buried early by the really good teams. Our halfcourt offense is not good with Scoop. It's not good in general but Waiters can break down the D

Scoop can focus on doing a better job in the half court offense. He did lead the league in assists last year, and not all of them were to Ricky. We need all these guys because most of them have at least one weakness in their game or another.

Both Scoop and XMAS are big factors in our offense being pretty embarrassing for a top 5 team.

My math says we are averaging 83ppg, how is that embarrassing?

Really - Scoop played well 1st half, Dion W came on strong 2nd half. Dion W made a lot of bonehead plays first half, scoop did 2nd half. JB yelled at the both equally - you would have seen more of what went on if you were there.

JB has so many weapons and this year he is coaching better than he has in a long time. If anyone should be starting its CJ. But you don't know JB, he is superstitious and won't change things until they lose or someone gets hurt.

We have enough isolation players we don't need another isolation guard off the bench in Dion. Thats what Dion is. MCW could develop into that extra isolation guard over time. Let Dion start at the point instead.

We need Scoop to use his IQ and run some plays when our isolation sets get cold in the first half. Let his biggest challenge be efficiency and not fighting for a starting spot being his obstacle. Hes a efficiency guard. Efficiency guards are best used when you have the lead to keep it. In the syracuse offense we get leads with good isolation basketball. We always have.
Plus Dion is a better defender then Scoop when he gets a hand out but doesn't slap and foul early on.
MCW will develop into either or type of guard. Hes more of a isolation guard in terms of readyness, but his passing skill is up there to set up plays along with some of the best passers in the NBA.

IMO time for JB to hit him with our best isolation offense.

Yes because Colgates are a good barometer for a top 5 team in the nation. DePaul also averages 100 points against those teams to start every season. We only had two games we should count in any averages :)

All our games weren't against Colgate. Other top teams play cupcakes too, check their schedules. Kentucky avg 84, NC 90, OSU 86 and Duke 79. They all have cupcakes on their schedule.

Orangefan 13 you said: "We need Scoop to use his IQ and run some plays when our isolation sets get cold in the first half. Let his biggest challenge be efficiency and not fighting for a starting spot being his obstacle."

My concern is that Scoop does not have a high BBall IQ...in fact if he had an average IQ he would be our best guard. Scoop makes too many bone head plays...I do not know if it is because he loses focus or what...but one thing is sure...Scoop does not have a high BBall IQ.

I have no big problem if Dion were to start, he and Triche are our 2 best guards and have been the best pair. But I don't think Scoop has been "horrible" and Dion seems to be playing well off the bench and providing a spark so why change it? Plus, there will be games we need Scoop and he plays well and we might "lose" him putting him on the bench.

Agree 100%

Good point and I agree. But, I think Scoops problem was geting by better defensive guards. when he did that we had a chance against anyone the last few years.

I think it needs to be changed Bees for efficiency. We are playing for the year.

Asking the first team and starters to be more efficient offensively just doesn't cut it. I don't see it happening to Melo buds inside more.
You come out running with isolation and punch it to them.

Dion and KJO to start.
And Triche to step up as the third scorer.

If that doesn't work then Scoop comes in as a experieced PG to try to figure out out forced half court transition offense.

Its really a matter of who you think will be able to slow down half court transition basketball down. If its Dion then its Dion if its Scoop then its Scoop. Efficiency not energy. Baye's Defense, CJ, and the Triches cuts bring plenty of energy already.

Box Scores Lie.
So Triches 11 pts 4 ast, 4 TOs 4 stls, 1 rb and 3 PF in27 minuts is the truth compared to Scoops 14 pts, 4 ast, 6 TOs, 4 stls, 0 rbs and 0 PF in the same time a lie?

Absolutely. 6 TOs. Some terrible passes. I bet his +/- was awful.

Not sure how you can say box scores lie and then just go with what the box score says for turnovers. He was pretty mediocre today, but CJ had zero turnovers, and I would imagine that one pass (one of many balls that he couldn't handle today) that went through his hands is credited as a turnover for Scoop as was the pass to KJo where KJo was running absentmindedly down the court and it hit him in the back.

Again, his play was pretty average overall, but everyone was pretty average until we started pressing.

Funny. People bitch about scoop when he does not score. Today he has 14 points, second leading scorer in the game, going 5-9 from the field and 2-2 from 3-point line and had 5 steals. What is it that people want. Looks likme a pretty solid performance to me.

6 turnovers vs. 3 assists. Scoop kept us even in the first half and almost took us out of the game in the second,

He's playing starter's minutes, isn't he?

My starting five are
Dion, KJO our best isolation players with Triche running all over.
And CJ and Fab staying out of their way.
No more effin around.

Scoop is a passing point guard to get the ball to stars.
XMas, Scoop and Melo leave us stagnant to start games offensively. They are not isolation scoreres IMO. Dion and KJO together make Triche all over the place and making plays. CJ and Fab staying out of their way with CJ leaking out for Three and Melo bumping for position.

When Triche/Dion get tired MCW can give them a rest.

Xmas off the bench for rebounding energy. Hopefully he will get a touch here and there instead of getting nothing next to Melo, Scoop, and Triche(who is slow without Dion and Kjo on the floor).

I didn't say that. I said earlier that CJ really struggled and I agree with your last sentence.
