These guys have a really long way to go. I know Dino preaches the ability for each guy to play multiple positions. BUT the oline is so complicated and requires 5 guys working in sync that i have to question what the heck he was thinking. I mean its actually absurd to think he could create any semblance of a solid line with this approach. He needed to settle on 5 one week into camp and get them dialed in. It is well known that this is not how you develop a good line. Total screw up on Dinos part.

A bigger issue were our tackles who could barely get out of their stance before the edge rusher was 2 steps past them.

Well our starting center is injured so he can’t settle on 5 they wanted.

Well when you move from center to LT to RT and you dont play next to the same guy this is what you get. There are very few offensive lineman that ever become proficient at 2 line positions. What we have are 7 guys that are average at multiple positions. Alexander should have starting at RT the minute he arrived. Serv at LT. If Heckel couldnt cut it at center bring in Duerig. Bottom line the tackles should have been set since day 1.

No. He needed to go with 5 after 1 week. Anyone who has ever played football knows you cant throw a line together the last week of practice. Especially the tackles. Poor coaching.

I think the fact that we were always relying on Servais (the starting LT, most important position on the line!) is criminal. OL and decisions made surrounding it has been questionable under Dino outside of last year. There really has been very little development of guys they have brought in other than grad transfers. When your offense relies on the OL for it to be able to operate effectively...that just simply needs to be locked in. No sense in having a four star pocket passing QB if you can’t give him time to operate, he’ll just get punished all day.

What does our Ol project to look like next year?

Whoever was LT today had his man run right around him and get multiple pressures. No moves at all just ran around him.

Actually I just looked it up. Barring any breakout players we should be able to go to camp with:

LT- Servais
LG-Tisdale
C-Heckel
RG- D. Davis
RT-Vetrello

I would hope that Dino runs that as the first team OL for 90 percent of the camp till they know each other back and forth

Yeah he’s been the starting center over the last 3 years...

And this year he is our best LT. The last two years he wasn’t.

I rewatched the first 3Q's. Just the Offense, Def too painful.

The first 2 drives put a bad taste in my mouth, live. Not much better on replay.

Servais was brought in as a Tackle candidate. Depth pushed him to C. (Conway,Martin, McGloster all signed NFL contracts) IMO, he's a an NFL candidate.
Heckels injury put him back to C.

Just watching the O? Tommy played better than I thought. So did the Line. In the 1st half, announcer mentioned Vett giving up 2 pressures. He gave up another in the 3rd. It's important to note, that a guy like Alton Robinson pressures 19% of the time. Rest of the ACC is about 15%. 1 or 2 times out of 10, the DE is going to win. Seems that held true. Alexander was decent, but with a key hold in the 3rd... They performed better than I thought, when I didn't watch the a$$ kicking on the other side of the ball. I'm not freaking out, here, but yeah, this thing needs to be smoothed out.

HCDB was kinda pissed when someone asked about the run game in the presser... Agreed. Also said the best thing he learned was that the kids might have learned to listen... Not happy with the tackling.. Never believe your own hype.

We're not a top 25, at the moment. If this becomes a teachable moment? We shall see...

Not a fan
Ol cross training. I need a kid who played same spot all the time. I know we aren’t getting the bigs we want. There is no excuse and we shouldn’t be 290 across board.

Does anyone remember nassib’s senior year - the last time we had a pocket passer to run the offense? I think many forget that season got off to a very rough start because Pugh was out for about a month. The offense alternately sputtered and showed some signs of life very much like it does now.

When Pugh returned that was a great offense. Goes to show that sometimes one player really does make all the difference. Also highlights the importance of holding on to key recruits. Sampson at C would provide instant depth right now.

i forgot we all saw every minute of every pratice.. just because we know they cross trained doesnt mean they dont play 75% of the time at one spot too when the reporters arent watching.. every team does this so i dont think its an issue to get worked up over..
