Based on yesterday results, the only two teams left on the schedule that look stronger is Miami and maybe Georgia Tech. I know many here feel like it’s a developmental year. However, things are shaping up that if the team continues to get closer and execute more consistently. We can send a huge message to the ACC this season that can become a national message as soon as next season (why not even this season). Why not us, Syracuse, can be the ones to dethrone and benefit the most on a stale Clemson program?

Yes and no. Our lines are a huge problem. And our defense remains a problem as a whole. No opponent is beyond an upset… but the road is still uphill unless our lines and defense improve.

I want to be wrong but whoever was touting the offensive line in the preseason was feeding us a line of…….The OL along with the mess of a defense that ERob and Wright have constructed….i just don’t see it. Will we be favored in another game this season? Maybe UNC?

Clemson lost on the road on a 55 yd FG. They play GT 10 times it’s probably 7-3 Clemson

I severely disagree.

Don’t get too caught up in the beer muscles from Colgate. We are a week from nearly losing to UCLOWN who lost to a non-BCS team yesterday.

I think the OPs point is that coming into the season the schedule seemed extremely difficult, but there weeks in, some of the teams may not be the juggernaut we assumed.

I don't know how good we are yet, but this game against Clemson before the first snap of the season looked impossible. Now, not so much. They look like a program that hasn't quite clicked. Let's see if we can force them in to more struggles.

There’s some 2024 FSU vibes with them. Angeli>Klubnik is our chance.

Offseason moves I’d like to see if Fran is serious about accountability:

- new OL coach who has a strong resume
- new DC e.g. an up n coming Tony white
- “demote” E to co-DC in name only

Given what we've witnessed to date - a perception that seems to be backed up by the stats that GoSU96 referenced in another thread - you have to squint pretty hard not see that your "Open Pathway" could be an oncoming train.

The opening point spread vs that "stale Clemson program" could be the train whistle. We have a lot of work to do...

I think it’s fair to say that we’re not very good at this point. But this is where I’m really curious.

How good of a coach (and staff) is Fran really? I think we can all agree that he’s a great program builder so far. Great, that’s a huge part of the battle. But, can he coach his butt off and bring this team along to the point where we can be competitive with this schedule, especially since it might be weaker than anticipated? If he can step up to the plate and deliver, and win with this team, which is seemingly not good, well then he could be sensational for us going forward.

I’m not all that confident because I think we lack the players on this team. Unfortunately, I just don’t think the D line is good. Period. We also lack playmakers and have remaining question marks in too many other areas. Obviously the O line is one as well.

However, my remaining hope is that Fran is really the real deal and can guide us to wins that I don’t expect. That he surprises all of us against a schedule, while less intimidating, is still formidable for a SU team which lacks the aforementioned talent and also has a ton of youth. If he can do that, not only does that make this year successful, it suggests incredible possibilities on the horizon. For this I’m still excited to see what we do next starting with Clemson.

I think we give Clemson a game. Hopefully nothing stupid happens or a phantom penalty kills our chance to win late.
Ohhh you can bank on that happening. Go in knowing you Gotta beat the refs too like virtually every other trip down south and it works to your psychological advantage expecting it

(in case anybody has forgotten, here’s a quick primer, the Phantom OL lineman down the field penalty negating that potential win, The bogus late hit call on the sideline our number 99 against klubnik, when replays clearly showed klubniks left foot in bounds when he got hit essentially costing that potential victory and finally the North Carolina game down there when replays clearly showed their punter didn’t get the first down by a half yard or more and yet they still gave it to him……. and that it’s just off the top of my head).

So when it inevitably happens, and it will happen, it won’t be the gut punch momentum killer it otherwise would be, and rather it’ll get em pissed off to keep trying to overcome it all. That’s what I’d be preaching to them.

Yes, Dabo will not lose his team. They started poorly last year and won the ACC.
Yup. The last second loss to GT was not good for us. We will get their best shot.

The roster is loaded with projected NFL talent. And, their schedule is favorable relative to getting FSU and SMU at home. I would not be surprised to see them play in the conference championship.
