Whether he took it or not I do believe had we had Angeli and were sitting at 1 loss Fran would have been on the list to be contacted at PSU at the very least.

College football is stupid about this and most other things, so Fran shouldn't be a real candidate, but he might be. We're 3-3 and so mad, we need to hire the 3-3 guy at Cuse! That's not a thing that should happen if logic has any place in the world. We took a risk because we needed to. Penn State doesn't need to do that. They're going to get a bigger name with a bigger resume. If we come up big next year then maybe Fran is going to get that kind of offer. But the internet is stupid and programs like Penn State don't take .500 coaches from Syracuse, no matter the buzz.

You bring up a good point. Again for many reasons we should be watching what they do closely. A lot of implications for recruiting at least in what they do.

As of October 2025, the NCAA has updated the rule, requiring players to wait for 5 days after a new coach is announced before a 15-day transfer window opens.

Disagree. He did great at Temple, he inherited a complete dumpster fire at Baylor and did great there and now Nebraska is learning how to win again with him. I think his NFL stint makes people think he is overrated.

He didn't take over 90s Temple. Golden and Addazio were there first.

Baylor was a mess off the field, but Grobe got them to 7-6. Rhule didn't surpass that until year 3.

He is 17-14 (8-13) at Nebraska. He has squeaked out wins vs Cincy and Maryland this year. Lucky for him he has nobody on the schedule this year now that Penn State has collapsed.

Personally, I rather have Franklin.

Dillingham not leaving ASU. This is his dream job and frankly, a lot of people around here (I live in AZ) have questions about him. He’s not in that tier of coaches.

Harbaugh can’t leave the Chargers. NCAA restrictions plus he loves LA.
