I agree, Cignetti should be their first choice.....But they signed him to a long term deal after just one season...I don't know that they have the cash to pay Franklin $49 million plus the buyout for Cignetti's contract, plus the new salary for Cignetti!!!! Think about how much money that is...probably in the $70 million neighborhood. They would be smart to look at Fran! Imagine what he could do with Penn state's resources..

My cousin went to PSU. FWIW, he noted the buyout is unlikely to actually cost them $49M as Franklin wants to continue coaching elsewhere. Something to be negotiated by whomever wants to hire him.

I'll never understand the viewpoint that Penn State has been punished enough, or giving them a pass when a significant portion of their reprehensible fans continue to believe this day that they were the victims on that their program was punished unfairly.

I am just this far in this thread and I am sure it has been mentioned, but their shithead fanbase complained more about JoePa losing his wins than they did about all the children being violated.

The firing is strange to me. Franklin got them through the Paterno saga, covid, and built them back up to a contender. They never won it all, but were competitive. One down year that is only half over, and that's it? When you owe him $49M? Seems like there is more to the story...

I think Ryan day would’ve been out at OSU last year if they didn’t make the championship, top level football is different

The "idea" comes from numerous Penn State fans I've spoken with over the years, scattered across dozens of conversations, who condemn what happened while simultaneously glorifying Paterno. This includes numerous, lengthy arguments with someone from Pennsylvania who is a PSU fan that I am close with.

Djorange summed it up perfectly above -- the deification is bizarre. They should have gotten death penalty, they didn't, and they feel vindicated because they got the wins back. They weren't punished severely enough.

If you disagree, that's fine.
