THE ROBERSON GAME

The reality of Roberson is that he was a top 30 recruit, who just needed time to develop. He didn't play at all freshman year, got his first dose of PT as a sophomore, and was up and down all season. Also needed to get stronger. And then was inconsistent for the first 1/3 of this season.

But I think we're starting to realize why he was rated so highly, and why he was called "the Beast" in high school. We're starting to see him emerge like you'd expect a guy who was a top 30 recruit. I honestly see no reason why he can't average 12-14 ppg and 9 rpg the rest of the way. Him doing so will go a LONG way toward this team making a run.

He keeps playing near that level and playing consistently. No reason we cant Dance

I hope he does - but that much effort has to take a lot out of him. The kid was brilliant tonight, couldn't have asked for more!

DC and Lydon have to do more down low to help though. DC played very small tonight after a few games of promising work around the rim. Not to be too hard on Lydon, but my god, he is so bad on defense it's officially blown my mind.

If DC just made same type of transition next...

I know he can make the 16 footer but if he's out there there's zero shot of an O-board; anyone else just never want him to shoot that?

the guy was spectacular. Hard to find words for how great he was
He's finally living up to that nickname "The Beast." Wow. It's not that he jumps really high (although he does) it's that he can jump multiple times and not lose any height on his jumps. Reminds me of Dennis Rodman, as that was what made him such a great rebounder.

The one where he was jumping with 4 Dukies and managed to win the offensive rebound was a thing of beauty.

Hopefully he can play this well against mid majors next year!

In all seriousness he's been a beast in ACC play. He's got to be up there as a leading rebounder in ACC play.

I thought for sure he was going to come down on someone else's foot and destroy an ankle. But he just snatched that ball out of the air. Awesome.

He can shoot it against cupcakes in his senior year.

nope, I like him taking it, because it will ALWAYS be there. No one will ever guard him out there, so it is a good option late in the clock. He seems to build on making one or two, so like all shooters, keep trying until they go in. Now if he just realizes a FT is the same thing, maybe his dismal FT % will start to climb too!

JB in a post game interview chewed him out for taking a jump shot. He is leading the ACC in rebounding.

You have to go all the way back to Billy Owens to find a rebounding performance like we witnessed tonight. He was truly a beast and it's efforts like this that turns this team into a formidable contender. I was amazed by his performance. Simply unbelievable.

He was 6th in ACC play before tonight, averaging 9.0 rebounds a game. After 20 rebounds tonight, he's now averaging 10.6 per game in ACC play, which puts him 3rd behind Onuaku and Devin Thomas.

he was always tentative, scared on the court.

i swear he looked like DNic or MCW fresh from the NE prep leagues and not the Jersey power conference.

but now its like he finally realized, JB can yell all he wants.

he can threaten to bench me all he wants.

whos he going to put in?? a walk on??

let me just play my game here...

and it calmed him.

dude, you get 20 rebs a game, you can go 1-7 from the floor and 0-4 from the line, its ok...i doubt your shooting will ever be that bad anyway.

go be Rodman.
