The Story of Devo's Decommitment from Michigan State

I was at that game in East Lansing. We had will to win that was obvious.

Me too, Doug. Long story but JB comp’d tickets for my family. The Spartans had a kid named Hill that was lighting it up from the outside...and by outside I mean my driveway. He had what we like to call range.

Anyway, SU had a kid from Scranton who was occasionally slow in rotating over on Hill and I periodically verbally pointed it out. A large guy the next row down and to my left glanced around at me a few times but said nothing. Yep, Gerry’s Dad.

Great win by the good guys that day.

Hill had "that game" that so many shooters had against the zone, hitting 10 three pointers.

But Carmelo was similarly hot, connecting on all 5 of his three point attempts.

Awesome game. Huge road win that helped us be a 3 seed in a favorable region.

That was the game along with away at ND where it was like- yeah we might just be really special.

The first inkling was Missouri. But MSU, Pitt and ND were really just also such special games. I wish we could get back to those big late OOC games.

Yeah. It's interesting that being there at every game vs seeing them on TV changes it. Mizzou was awesome, as was every home game that year especially being a student. It was seeing them from afar that was so impressive. To this day I still am bummed I didn't spend the money and get the FF package even though it was so much fun on campus too.

Pitt game in the Dome was amazing. I truly thought we could beat anyone after that game. I think I’m still hungover from the Dome foam that night.

I was such a mess when I got home from the Dome. 9pm start. Full day of drinking. That was a lot of fun.

First date with my wife: Mizzou. Second: ND. Watched the National Championship from her dorm room.

Your life could have gone so different if we lost those games and you were as crazy as I was in 2012 when I turned down an offer to “make me feel better” after the Notre Dame loss without Fab.
