Just re watched CMUs last drive in the 4th qtr. Our coaches are not putting these kids in a position to win, either due to a lack of prep or because of game time indecision. We called time out with 0:51 left because the secondary was jogging around and unsure where to line up. We called THE time out with 0:15 left because the entire secondary was looking to the sideline with no clue. If the kids knew what to do, CMU spikes the ball on 3rd down (you can see their coach signaling as such, clear as day), and then they have one play left. Instead we give them a chance to huddle with their coaches and get two plays called, but they only needed one. In hind sight, I'll admit THE time out was the right call, but for all the wrong reasons. Why doesn't the secondary know where to be pre snap? Do we ever just line up and play man to man, or is it mandatory to always give a 7 yd cushion or run some Swiss cheese zone coverage that invariably allows a first down thanks to YAC? Rant over

not sold on our db coach. after adams i believe he weak

I was disappointed that we didn't get anyone in position to jump for the ball. It felt like there were 3 CMU Chips battling each other for the ball and we didn't have a single player in position to elevate with these guys. Wigham had an arm in there I think but There wasn't a very good effort to get up thee and break up the pas

I don't think that was the case with the TO at 0:51. We looked to be lined up fine. I think Shafer wanted a look at the CMU formation to get a good call in. Someone in the secondary screwed up. No one was lined up on their TE who killed us all day. He simply went into the flat and we had no one out there.

The first formation CMU showed was with the TE in a 3 point stance. After the TO he was in the slot. My guess was that he was Cordy's responsibility. Why he was 7 yards off the LOS in what appeared to be man coverage on 4th & 5 is another question. The other possibility was that it was zone coverage and Whigham played man on the WR which screwed up the play. It looked like man coverage backside though.

Our defense was gassed and with good reason. Thought the timeout at 51 seconds was to try and let them get their wind similar to the end of the first half v wake forest more than anything.

The timeout at 15 seconds was because we were dreadfully out of position. Just because CMUs coach was calling for a spike doesn't mean their rather intelligent qb doesn't walk to the line, see a wr without anyone near him, and chuck it to him for an easy 6.

The jump ball was what it was. Our defenders were playing the first wr going right to left and the ball went to the wr running left to right behind him. Things happen in football.

I didn't have an issue with either timeout. My bigger issue was not going for it on 4th and 1 moments earlier knowing our d was gassed. That wouldve been playing to win vs what we got which was playing not to lose.

I'm amazed the d pulled out that huge 3rd down stop in ot to give us a chance to win. Otherwise that 4th and 1 call would be talked about more.
