Just re watched CMUs last drive in the 4th qtr. Our coaches are not putting these kids in a position to win, either due to a lack of prep or because of game time indecision. We called time out with 0:51 left because the secondary was jogging around and unsure where to line up. We called THE time out with 0:15 left because the entire secondary was looking to the sideline with no clue. If the kids knew what to do, CMU spikes the ball on 3rd down (you can see their coach signaling as such, clear as day), and then they have one play left. Instead we give them a chance to huddle with their coaches and get two plays called, but they only needed one. In hind sight, I'll admit THE time out was the right call, but for all the wrong reasons. Why doesn't the secondary know where to be pre snap? Do we ever just line up and play man to man, or is it mandatory to always give a 7 yd cushion or run some Swiss cheese zone coverage that invariably allows a first down thanks to YAC? Rant over
