The UConn Thread...

Cry me a river. It's minor league pro ball and these kids can get degrees if they want.

Minor league sports suck as well and really should have an age cap of 25/26 of their own at that point it's kind of a get a job bro thing.

Wishing these guys were playing for free still is like wishing the civil war went the other way.

It’s minor league ball with one crucial difference. Pros sign contracts in exchange for money. In college ball, you’re an unrestricted free agent a few times a year. That’s the part that would be nice to clean up eventually. They’re getting there, it seems, hopefully soon.

Iowa state Auburn another high level game tonight. Live bet for Auburn cashed, love Bruce pearl and this particular squad

McNeely is really struggling with the physicality of Memphis. Memphis has some men playing. They take no prisoners when they go to rebound. Their two guards are fearless and tough. Well see if they can hold on. Memphis leads by ten with three minutes left.
McNeely comes across as an Uberdouche. Easy to root against.

I'm not ever going to be critical of someone donating money to the University or the collectives. However, a lot of people are off base on exactly what was happening here. As for the guy's other point, I really wish we did have someone that would pony up that kind of dough.
I wasn't being critical but stating a fact. A donation isn't to be sniffed at or taken for granted, but again, other schools have individuals or collectives with very deep pockets that are made available to the programs they support.

Love how people say every team has an NIL vault but us. Memphis isn’t in the big10 or sec. Where do they get the $$ from? Why can’t SU get $$. Cuse is a rich kid school. wheres the money?
Fed Ex, I would assume

You always want more money for NIL, but I keep coming back to the fact we paid for an out of shape center who can’t play defense and surrounded him with a bunch of perimeter players that didnt play defense. I think a few of us saw this as a worst case scenario in the offseason. Hopefully the new GM and our analytics squad can help build a complimentary team going forward.

Soooo freaking negative man. We could still go on a run this year! There was some good defense from the team against Texas and Texas tech. We outrebounded tech and were only 5 off of Texas, and they were both teams with serious athletes. People are still acting like the only games we have played are lemoyne Colgate and Youngstown State. We saw the ceiling is higher with this team after the last two games.

Good move I almost cashed out my Iowa State bet up 16 and decided not to bc I didn't put that much down on it.

Can't believe a day that started with my West Ham beating Newcastle and Uconn losing and then Michigan and Michigan St covered had such an awful ending even had Ravens too. ISU choked, McNeese blew a huge parlay bc they couldn't hit free throws they were much better than Lib down the stretch, and I lost my fantasy matchup by .2 points bc I had Ravens D and those bogus PIs on the last drive.

How in the world he didn't get T'd up and even thrown out is beyond me. It looked like after the game he went after one of the officials, such a great look for the university.
He did get T'd up. It likely cost them the game.

Hurley is undeniably a fantastic coach but his inability to control his emotions regardless how much it hurts his team, is shocking. He has that early Bobby Knight type vibe where his anger and entitlement could eventually upend his reputation, career and legacy. There are always going to be passionate coaches but then there are coaches who think the rules, basic decorum, their personal view of the game and lack of respect for those who view things differently, will tarnish their career. Not a good look for him, the university nor his team. I’m certain it will be rationalized, excused even envied as long as he continues winning until…. it continues to escalate till there’s a reckoning, a power showdown when ultimatums occur.

Ok I guess i didn’t know that. But still seems like every single school we compare ourselves too has a source or a guy. where is our money? We had guy……

I think it's evident we have had some generous donors, but not as much as other schools, of course.

I'm starting to see the NIL game like baseball. Sure you're going to have the Yankees/Dodgers that can outspend everyone, but I think there's enough talent out there that even if we are a lower tier than that financially, we can still compete.

I'm still trusting the process in place with Red and the rest of the staff. We'll see how the rest of this season goes.
