- Judah Mintz took over the game in the second half led us back into the game, not for the first or last time. Bill Walton was impressed. He wound up with 22 points despite the fact that the refs wouldn’t put him on the line as much as he expects. He had 5 turnovers but 4 steals and 3 assists.
- JJ Starling found spots to score 15 points himself while grabbing 6 rebounds and getting 4 steals. It was our guards vs. their whole team.
- Naheem McCleod got some garbage-time states: 7 points, 4 rebs and 4 blocks in 20 minutes But the box score doesn’t show the rebounds he should have gotten and the number of times he didn’t offer much resistance in the paint.
- Maliq Brown also got some stats, mostly off of feed from Judah and JJ: 4 points, 4 rebounds in 17 minutes. Eric Devendorf just said in the post game show that he’d like to see Maliq go back to just playing the four as he would be more productive and less challenged defensively there.
- Red showed an ability to design plays out of time outs that were very effective, (as JB used to). He just needed someone on the court to get things organized as the game progressed.
- We slugged it out with the #7 and #11 teams in the country and we landed some punches before we hit the canvas. We should beat Chaminade and come back from Hawaii with a win and 4-2 record.
3-2 with 26+ to go…
