- The #1 team in the nation took care of business again, and on a court where we have some very bad memories.
- We were 17 for 23 in the first half. That’s not from the line. That’s on two point field goals. 74%. We aren’t going to lose with numbers like that.
- Different game, different stars. Kris Joseph, who had a total washout game vs. Seton Hall with 0 points and 1 rebound, (not that it mattered), came back strong with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Meanwhile CJ Fair, who had kind of disappeared for several games, had the game of his career with 16 points and 5 rebounds while going 6 for 6 from the field and 4 for 4 from the foul line. He also had no turnovers or fouls- thus no negatives at all in 29 minutes of play, a remarkable performance.
- Fab Melo continued his fine play with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 blocks on 6 for 7 shooting.
- Brandon Triche had a solid game with 1o points on 4 for 6 shooting while Dion Waiters had 13 on 5 for 8. Both were battling thumb injuries, (Dion’s had a rather large wrap on it.)
- James Southerland made a nice contribution with 8 points and 4 rebounds in 17 minutes, including a nice turn-around jump shot off a quick feed from Joseph, who made a point of congratulating on the bench.
- As I’ve said, 1-2 guys play well, we lose. 3-4 we win. 5-6, we blow your doors off. Joseph, Fair, Melo, Triche, Waiters and Southerland gave us 6 and we won easily. Next game it might be a different 5-6 guys but as long as it’s 5-6, we’ll be fine.
