The worst part about all of this

Yes, except for spending $120,000,000 on the new Dome.

You could say even that was a mediocre effort…

Had they done the original thought of retractable roof…….and really spent some money

Instead we simply put a new roof on an old building that NEEDED to be replaced and some paint..

As an example Binghamton University is spending 120,000,000 on a brand new baseball field and facility…that they had only redone maybe 10-15 years ago…

A retractable roof is to much for any D1 program and the overhaul was nice but I certainly don't see how it's relevant to the current discussion about football

I mean, I think that probably would have been over reaching. But imagine….

And yes, very happy with the renovations it looks great

But I agree with you let’s not say that was Syracuse trying to say we are spending money on trying to be a winning football program…it was literally out of a necessity

Yes changing the Dome roof at the end of it's life span and remodeming the Dome in earnest foe the first time ever is totally comparable to bringing back a coach well under .500 in year 6. Just stop
I think you misunderstood.

The original post suggested that the University is not committed to the football program.

That is not accurate - as indicated by the massive investment in a football stadium.

I gather you know little about the University’s financial status.

I believe Binghamton is a state school.

It's not a football stadium.
Actually, it is a football stadium.

It was built for football.

The University could have decided to deemphasize or eliminate football while building a basketball venue.

Instead, it chose to re-invest in the football program.

I think the point is, they replaced winter tires that wouldn’t pass inspection. It’s not really an investment as much as something that has to be done.

There in the ACC, there is no eliminating football now or ever.

State schools in NYS are nothing like those in other states….

At minimum 4 other sports also use the Dome, it was a Dome investment not a football investment.
The University did not invest $120,000,00 for basketball or lacrosse or whatever sport you are considering.

It made the investment for football. Other sports will benefit of course, but football was the driving force - just as it was in 1979-80.

Contrary to the OP suggestion, the University is clearly invested in major college football.

It made the investment because the roof was shot and the Dome was falling apart. Bball actually draws more money then fball, if anything you could argue they did it for them. And no as the OP I can tell you there not, zero chance any upper echelon P5 program brings back Babers. The only schools that would are Duke NW Kansas and Rutgers

I’m not sure who we can hire, that wants to be here, that can recruit well enough to win here. The names that pop up here are not going to come. If a coaching change is made, it will be the sixth head coach since I started being a season ticket holder. I think we’ve had three winning seasons during that time. I’m really not interested in another five year rebuild. I’m glad I stayed home tonight. I’m not missing the two hour drive home. Basketball is almost as bad. I’m taking a hard look at dropping season tickets for hoops too. I’d never get my seats back, but losing to Colgate was maybe the last straw.
I agree with most of what you said, but don’t know what other option we have other than to let HCDB go. If we don’t this cycle will only continue. Bad game management, average recruiting and more players wanting to jump ship. We need a coach that can recruit and win. HCDB has lost his flair at Syracuse and I just don’t see it coming back.

The football program brings more money to the University than does the BB program

Football drives intercollegiate athletics.

We moved to the ACC for football - not BB.

The Dome renovation was done for FB.

Anyone who seriously thought the University would fire Dino Babers today is not being realistic.

O can recruit. He would get players to come to SU.
Les Miles wasn’t a recruiter.
Orgeron is a recruiter.

O would get into PA/NJ/FL he can recruit.
Problem he is a scummy in his offield actions.

It would not be Les Miles-Kansas.

Miles hired bad fits at LSU and got fired he had Odell/Jarvis Landry and had Cam Cameron running a bad offense.

O went 51-20 and had the offield issue with a LSU board of trustee member’s wife according to the Athletic. That did him in. As he wouldn’t be gone that fast without something like the athletic reported.
O is retiring. He’s done and has said as much. He’s got the girlfriend and ready to go off the grid. Don’t waste any time on this notion. Not to mention he mailed it on this year.

Actually, recruiting has been better of late. Young SU football players are being drafted into the NFL. Sean Tucker, a young athlete, is a star. Our best players are our youngest players.

Of course SU moved to the ACC for football no one's arguing that. In regards to yearly revenue ie ticket sales and concessions and parking etc, bball draws more money for SU then football and has for awhile.

Well it doesn’t fit his narrative. So, no.

Keep fighting the fight. Know how many players on offense that our offensive guru HC has developed and had drafted so far on the hill? 0. That has to be almost impossible to accomplish at a P5 school. May actually deserve some recognition for that level of ineptitude.

We have 30mm plus incentives to remain viable in football. I argue the school doesn’t need to do anything really since the ACC probably likes us as a member regardless of our results.

I’m not saying we are gonna spend zero but it impacts acting like an SEC school bc the money comes no matter
