Things are really getting bad over at the Jersey Shore

That's a new level of delusion right there.

The winningest college football program of all time is really overwhelmed by the prospect of playing against the tradition and pageantry that is Rutgers football.

What a joke.

In response to whether making a bowl game out of the Big East was a major accomplishment..."I do, not only did we have to go through a top 10 OOC every year, we had to make sure we win at least 1 or 2 games in the premier power conference in the nation, hard to find another program with this level of track record." (I checked, as I suspected they played ZERO OOC games against a ranked team since 2005)

Where did you find that? Completely insane. I think they are saying top 10 OOC schedule every year, which is about from far a reality as you can possibly get.

From 2003 to 2013 they played 14 games against major conference teams. Michigan St., Illinois, Maryland, and Arkansas twice, a four game series with UNC. They played ASU and Vandy once. Not exactly the heavy hitters.

In the same period they played 42 games against the following:

NC Central (1), Army (7), Ball St. (1), UB (3), UCF (1), EMU (1), Fla Int (2), Fresno St. (2), Howard (3), Kent (2), Morgan St. (1), Navy (7), New Hampshire (1), Norfolk St (3), Ohio (2), SMU (1), Texas Southern (1), Tuland (2), Nova (1).

What a bunch of clowns.

Here is what SU did over the same time:

31 major conference OOC regular season games:

Washington (2), Illinois (2), USC (2), PSU (3), Nwest (4), Minny (2), Missouri (1), Iowa (2), Purdue (1), ND (3), FSU (2), BC (2), UNC (1), UVA (2), Wake (2)

The remainder of the OOC was 21 games, Akron (3), UB (3), UCF (1), Colgate (1), Maine (2), Wyoming (1), URI (1), Wagner (1), Toledo (2), Tulane (2), Miami Ohio (2), NEastern (1), Stony Brook (1).

In other words twice as many major conference opponents against a stronger group of teams and half as many against non major conference teams.

I can't open the link so maybe its shut down. But I found these gems on the regular Rivals Rutgers football forum:

"The way I see it, we have great shot at 6-0 going into the 2nd half of the schedule" We are the Big Dogs in all of the first 6 matchups. Penn State and Michigan have to come to our house. They have to come through Rutgers and our tradition."

And then there is this poster's tagline:

"RUTGERS FOOTBALL | NATIONAL CHAMPIONS : 1869, 1961, 1976"

Just for giggles I pulled up Rutgers 1976 schedule. Yep they did go undefeated. They beat: Navy, Bucknell, Princeton, Cornell, Connecticut, Lehigh, Columbia, UMass, Louisvill, Tulane, and Colgate. Heck that's a schedule Shady would have been proud of. That was also 10 years before Howard Schnellenberger went to Louisville to build their program. They finished ranked #17 that year.
:rolling::bat::rolling:

Oh wow, they still allow this many winners to post together on one forum?

Atlantic City keeps closing casinos and hotels.

Less places for Rutgers grads to work.

Schiano scheduling and results during his tenure vs. Syracuse schedule and results. It's pretty ridiculous.

I forget, is he Aldo's son? Life at Rutgers is a fantasy, after all.

Awesome GIF btw, always loved that one.
Ha I was going to reference Aldo/Fantasy as well. Now, I don't. ;)

Shameful admission... We saw Rainbow and Aldo Nova at the Landmark in the early 80's, and he put on a better show than Rainbow. Never thought I would see Richie Blackmore mail in a performance. Very disappointing.

I think I saw the same show.

They never did play "Stone Cold" Oh Lord

It was horrible. Same with the Aerosmith show at the War Memorial, in the non-Joe-Perry days. And The Who at the Dome. None of them seemed happy to be there.

By contrast, Judas Priest/Iron Maiden at the War Memorial (Screaming for Vengeance tour), and Sabbath last year in San Jose were just awesome. Sabbath at the War Memorial with Dio, The Mob Rules tour, was also good.

There was also a breathtaking performance of Beethoven's 4th at the Atlanta Symphony, with Zdenek Macal conducting, but I digress. :)

The "Fantasy P.o.r.n.o..graffiti Mousse" tour?

Hooray for content checkers for adolescents!

Did anybody get the address? We should send a care package. I'm in ten bucks.

Like that 1976 Rutgers team would have had any chance after the opening kickoff, against TD, and company

Just when you think Rutgers can't get any lower, they do not disappoint and go lower still. Delaney is probably downing a bottle of antacids every night before bed. Every team that voted against Syracuse and Pitt when they added UNL shrinks during conference calls.

Was this with Dio or Bonnet? I loved Bonnet, so much energy, such a voice. Dio was well, kinda robotic. Saw him (Dio) with Black Sabbath at the War Memorial when he was given the key to the city or whatever.
