This board is out of control

No. Wildcat type short yardage running formation with Elmore as lead FB. Give him some RPO plays out of it where he looks at one read as a passer and has 1 or 2 holes to chose from as a runner.

Not saying you have to do this. Just saying Dungey could be used to his strengths more if the other guy played too. Devito series you'd bring Dungey in for a 3rd and 2.

I believe we all had it figured out very rationally before the season began. Most, including this die hard who stays off the board and internalizes the loss, (don't have anyone to yell at), on this board had position losses evaluated in May or before. Most followed Zaire Franklin's Pro Day as I did noting the loss of he and Parris Bennet were going to leave a big hole in the LB area and who was going to be able to carry the load effectively. The WR landscape was discussed even more thoroughly. What were we going to do without Ishmael the All American with all of the receiving records, Ervin Philips - some wishing for a second coming of Amba Etta- Tawo. Who was going to be able to come even close to the aforementioned? Everything was pretty much figured out albeit with some anxiety about the positions along the offensive line then Koda Martin followed his dad to SU and along with some experienced players like Airon Servais, Cody Conway, Sam Heckel,Mike Clark and others and the board seemed somewhat satisfied. And then thee was the Defense, what were we going to do there? A question that still has needs some answers. Robinson, amazing play so far, Williams, Slayton, Coleman same as Robinson. Linebackers Whitner, Guthrie, Armstrong. Corners Bradshaw, Williams. FS Cisco leading the nation in interceptions, Foster and our special team who was going to kick FG's – Andre Szmyt one of the best or the best in the nation and another of the national leaders, Hofrichter NFL bound, rounding it all out Sean Riley one of if not the fastest players on the team who has also done well. So I say after the first 4 games we all felt very good about this edition of SU football and some had very high expectations of this team, this coach and staff. However annihilation of opponents as Dungey expects although a great idea is a great amount of pressure and a lot to expect. I say the very close game at Clemson though so close and two or three crucial penalties no matter what any player says took its emotional and physical toll. I am amazed that we went to Pittsburgh and again led until very late. The bye week is a very welcome sight to heal. We are fortunate to have this team to represent us. We'll do well we'll get that spirit back and shine again in the Dome. It's time for us on this board to give these top athletes their due and stop the useless arguing and second guessing everything. Basketball is just around the corner I wonder who among us will be the first complainer about players or JB? Let it be. Let the coaches coach. It would be wonderful if we could let these players play for us and be ORANGE and be SU as best they can without the negativism that is sometimes displayed on this board at times. Although that is probably never going to happen. Emotion won't let it. But, maybe that's a good thing unless it gets terrible. Remember Clarence, he didn't get his wings for nothing and George finally realized just how good he had it. It's a Good Life for all fans of SU sport. :) GOSU :)

I'm not sure I'm buying the "Dungey is hurt" theory. Dungey is not, and has never really been, a super accurate thrower. He is for sure not on the same page with our WR's. How much of that is on the WR's? A lot, I would say. Maybe I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt Tommy could come in at this point, and just make the offense go without a serious leaning curve.

Did you miss the 2nd half of the FSU game? The kid can make throws that Dungey simply can't. He also doesn't have the tendency to miss easy throws as Dungey has. I'm not saying bench Dungey, but if he's playing at even 80% I think it;s only fair to the team to go with Devito. If he's fully healthy then i don't think giving Devito some series would hurt, especially if Dungey was struggling as bad as he did Saturday.

Check out Babers and his system as implemented at Bowling Green. The QB ran way less than Dungey has over the past 3 seasons. Remember--DeVito was recruited for this system. Dungey wasn't.
Exactly. And Dungey keeps too often on the read option runs. Like the fumble play. He should have handed off to Riley on the jet sweep.

He is hurt.

We're 17th in the country at 39 ppg and there's multiple threads of wanting to bench our 4 year starting qb that is creating the majority of those points on his own. Just completely idiotic.
i don't see MULTITUDES screaming for dungeys head??? i do think babers made a bad coaching error keeping him in the game, waiting for him to play thru whatever the issue was. he should have played devito in the 2nd quarter. sit eric calm him down, and refocus.
devito is a pretty good qb with better passing skills , good judgement and although no eric can do pretty well. it would have given a twist. i do not blame eric for the loss when it was mostly on the defense. however devito may have given us another dimension for awhile until eric could reenter the game.

Yep I'm saying this as someone who has been there and now as someone who treats such things and lectures on the topic for 28 years now (orthopedics).

He's essentially a weight lifter, and there's no group of the sporting population who has more shoulder issues than weight lifters. And of course he's essentially a pitcher with the wear and tear of years of throwing with not much rest to compound the issue.

Sometimes the issue is the serious stop you in your track problems but more often the nagging chronic recurrent types like impingement syndrome of the rotator cuff and/or bursa from a combination of the repetitive throwing motion along with weight lifting where most over work the usual muscles to get ripped (bis/tris/pecs/lats/delts), while too often paying too little attention to the short rotators (infraspinatous/teres minor n major and subscapularis) that protect against such shoulder issues.

This impinge/tendonitis type is actually what you hope for and is more common cause you can fight through it and improve with therapy. Less common is the more significant cartilage tears aka labral tears you can play through many times if they're mild to moderate. Like Terrence Roberts did years back on the hoops side with his knee issues putting off surgery til post season.

Not certain which of the two type issues dungys dealing with but I can guarantee its one of those. Add in the routine elbow overuse tendonitis issues he also appears to have (check the FSU tape grabbing his elbow) and you have an injured qb playing at 50-75% or so.

If I were coach I'd allow him to heal up this next two weeks and give him the next game to see how he looks and feels. If he's bouncing so many passes, etc. you gotta give devito some run.
I don't think the overuse part can be overstated. Dr. James Andrews has been pretty clear on his recommendations against early specialization and the professionalization (if that's a word) of youth athletes. We may be seeing that along with a reckless style taking it's toll on Dungey.

I also wonder if Dungey not having a naturally strong arm has led to extra strain. Where some guys give it a flick of the wrist and ball seems to jump out of their hand, Dungey may have to work harder to get the ball to the same places on the field, increasing the strain on his structure compared to others.
