He deserves the attention. Knight got the same kind of attention when he passed Dean Smith. Like him or not, you have to admire the job he has done at Duke, i.e. Duke's record while he's been there. And I am certain that JB does not begrudge K any of the attention he is getting. They are close friends and have a lot of respect for each other.

Don't let sanity get in the way of everyone's rant. All K does is win, go to Final Fours, and win some more.

Sheesh, give the guy the credit he deserves. In this day and age he is a beacon amidst a rubbish pile of poor excuses for human beings who put winning first AT ANY COST. We don't need to mention names here. K simply does it right and that is why he is held in such high esteem by so many. Coach K is the best coach of this generation of basketball. I hate Duke, I don't like K, but he just wins games. He and JB are good friends, they respect eachother. That's good enough for me to know what kind of guy K really is.

His work with the Olympic hoops team has been outstanding. It is no longer a given that we will dominate in basketball, but he has managed to put together a team that makes it look fairly easy.

Agreed, anyone discounting his wins at army as well is really not very smart. I will never het why people especially here hate on coach k so much, just dont get it. Especially when he and jb are obvious friends and have a respect for one another. As bob knight said asking a coach to be an assistant on an Olympic team is the ultimate form of respect in the coaching fraternity

Yes, basing it off quotes from players who didn't play for him and have a clouded vision because they couldn't beat them. Jalen called Grant Hill an "uncle tom". Shows how ignorant he is and nothing he says holds any value.

Btw my reason disliking duke is simply the preferential treatment. For example, the year we got snubbed from the NCAA tournament, if we had duke on our jersey, we make the tournament hands down. And probably play rounds 1 and 2 five minutes from home

Ummm... it's not discovery health, it's ESPN. They cover sports, not health issues or war or politics... He has, in one way, surpassed everyone that has come before him, and at the rate he's going may put the number where noone else will touch it. It's not like they've been doing it for the last month. They talked about it the day it happened, so I'd say it wasn't overboard.

I understand it's not discovery health and that's exactly the point. You can talk about how great an accomplishment is without drooling and acting like he's a deity. But to be fair, ESPN has been acting like he's one for years so at least they're consistent.

like most rational basketball fans I hate Duke, which I attribute to the incessant ESPN nob slobbing. i used to hate K until he missed time a few years back and the Dukies absolutely sucked without him. As soon as he came back the team was good again. So as much as I hate that team I gotta respect the coach.

I like Coach K a lot. Obviously Love Jimmy B. Like Bobby Knight (but hate him for 87). I like Pitino. I like Brad Stevens very much (by the way Butler is 1-1 and lost first game to Evansville). I kinda like Izzo and Donovan.

So damn sick of all this Coach K love from ESPN. Why does every little even in sports become some epic adventure to them? Im not impressed with the all time wins record. He only has 829 wins at duke...the rest were racking up unimpressive wins at Army. He is clearly one of the best coaches ever...but so is Jim Boeheim. I just can't stand the love fest for K and Roy. Makes me throw up in my mouth.

I love how a major national record gets broken by someone you don't like and you call it a 'little event'.

JB's resume doesn't match up in any sense of the word against K's.

K has more success in conference. K has more success out of conference. K has more success in the NCAA's. K led the USA back to the gold medal stand in the Olympics. Of course he is going to get more media play.

Boeheim is great and he gets plenty of love from the national media, but he doesn't deserve the level of attention that K gets.
