We need to Win. You have to get over that hurdle. That goes without saying.

BUT

This team feels different. We have players. Most are young. And, they’re tough and talented.

This team is going to continue to compete this season. And I’m more optimistic about some of the schedule now for sure.

There’s a lot of positives in regard to our trajectory.

Silver linings are tough though with the recent outcomes. Very bitter pills to swallow.

Some decision making on the coaching side is absolutely maddening. But this nucleus of kids, they’re a little different. If they stick together, the next two years can be fun.

Yes, I also believe a couple of poor decisions cost us dearly tonight and last week.
I don’t think it’s debatable. Like I posted in the thread I started, it’s not just “in hindsight” when it keeps happening.

I think things like “momentum” are overused but there is a place for it, and we do the opposite in the places where I do think it actually is a thing. Like when we just gained 11 on that third and 12 then missed the FG. If we had third and 1 and lost a yard, sure maybe try to kick it. We just made a big play. Stop playing not to lose. Get up there and win this game.

It does feel different. The problem is that we are in Year 6 and with Dino's body of work to date, these are exactly the kind of games he needs to pull out.

No. No. Stop it. We don’t have hope. This team isn’t different; it’s 2019. We don’t have hope.

I’m not trying to be a jerk or mean or anything like that. Also, you can call me a fair weather fan or fickle and I won’t deny ANY of that. Also, I’ll watch ever game like I’m in a goddamn ancient geek tragedy. With that said, this season is over. We’re not going to a bowl; we’re not looking at success. We’re going to lose next week, and we’ll likely lose out.

It’s ok if people want to be optimistic. I’ll be righteously indignant.

Knock it off. Just like Briancuse, it's the same thing in thread after thread after thread.

We get how you feel.

Step away from the board for a while.

If I’m the opponent and it’s 4th and 2 and the other team has Shrader, I’m hoping they punt and terrified if they go for it.

His size, strength, running ability, and ability to make things happen even if the play is blown up, make him a tough guy to stop in short yardage situations. IMO.

Huge missed opportunity.

I'm tired of moral victories.

But I still think we're getting to a bowl. And with Shrader at the helm, I think we can be a top 25 type of team the next two years.

We can play with anybody, short of the truly elite teams with this D / Tucker / Shrader.

Frustrated as how that we came up short for two consecutive weeks, when we were so desperate to get the six wins, but I know that we're an eyelash away.

Yeah, you have your take. But I don’t agree with it. This team would boat race 2019.

I’d love to have a reasonable conversation about some of the decision making and the dynamics at play. It’s easy to blame the HC but I saw twice Dino was clearly livid on the sideline about some of these issues. It makes me think some of the confusion that resulted in mistakes (the 2pt conversion for example) was caused by someone else.

one (or two) times I noticed him pissed about the offense confusion. I’d like to know when Gilbert calls a play what happens after that. Does it have to run through Dino and if not, how does that play get from Gilbert to the QB. Additionally, if it does run through Dino, and a play call is vetoed then what happens?

I’ll have to go back and specify what plays I’m talking about. There was an offensive delay or confusion or burned timeout or something - can’t remember the details - but Dino was clearly upset about these things. If they were on him he wouldn’t have been visibly furious.

Imagine 5-1 though. It was truly right there too. And it’s not just exaggerating.

We’re literally inches away from it.
i hate you technical error table flip GIF

Think everyone’s heart dropped out their butts when they saw cooper lined up to take that handoff before the fumble. We were ROLLING. Im sure Shrader and Tucker were huffing but man

The only thing that is different is that players can leave, Better programs are going to pick us apart. Better players are now more likely to consider hitting the portal. If everyone can see the poor game management (and he thinks he's good) players certainly know it also. The best reason to transfer is lack of playing time. Perhaps, the next best is loss of confidence in program leadership. These kids are punching above their weight class and have nothing to show for it.
