This feels different

The only thing that is different is that players can leave, Better programs are going to pick us apart. Better players are now more likely to consider hitting the portal. If everyone can see the poor game management (and he thinks he's good) players certainly know it also. The best reason to transfer is lack of playing time. Perhaps, the next best is loss of confidence in program leadership. These kids are punching above their weight class and have nothing to show for it.
I respectfully disagree Crusty. Yea, the things you mentioned are true. But this is the best football we’ve played since 2018. Warts and all.

But yeah, the bitter losses suck.

I couldn't go to the dome today because the kids were sick.

Anyone there know if Dino was calling for two immediately after that score?

It does feel different. The problem is that we are in Year 6 and with Dino's body of work to date, these are exactly the kind of games he needs to pull out.
Bingo. There’s no debating that this team finally has ACC-caliber athletes and can compete with most teams in the league. That’s a big thing.

However, this coaching staff repeatedly flops on game day. It’s a huge problem.

I haven’t been interested in SU football in many years and I only contribute on the hoops board but I will say I like watching this defense play and I like Tucker and the toughness Shrader brings. Sorry for the massive run on sentence

Feels kinda like 2017. Lost close games at FSU, Miami, and LSU that year and had the bad loss to Middle Tenn. State(this year it was Rutgers).

Team competed with anybody but lost some heartbreakers. Pulled the massive Clemson upset. Then Dungey and half the defense got hurt and the wheels fell off.

Huge missed opportunity.

I'm tired of moral victories.

But I still think we're getting to a bowl. And with Shrader at the helm, I think we can be a top 25 type of team the next two years.

We can play with anybody, short of the truly elite teams with this D / Tucker / Shrader.

Frustrated as how that we came up short for two consecutive weeks, when we were so desperate to get the six wins, but I know that we're an eyelash away.
I pray that we can hang on to most of our recruits like Allen and Price from Jersey. Losing makes the other teams appear better when they are really not.

If I could describe 2017 it’d be todays game. I hope Shrader magically stays healthy

Go watch the play before. Tucker got slammed hard onto the turf. when he got up from that he was visibly hurting he took himself out of the game.

Where was Adam’s today?
It looks like the defender pushed his head into the turf. Hard.
He looked like he needed a beat to feel better.
Unfortunately, SU's RB ranks are thin right now.

If I’m the opponent and it’s 4th and 2 and the other team has Shrader, I’m hoping they punt and terrified if they go for it.

His size, strength, running ability, and ability to make things happen even if the play is blown up, make him a tough guy to stop in short yardage situations. IMO.
Except our Coach either overruled him or puts him in the shotgun which is stupid.
There was a play in the game,3rd and short, he got behind the center and called the play, easily made the first down.

We need to Win. You have to get over that hurdle. That goes without saying.

BUT

This team feels different. We have players. Most are young. And, they’re tough and talented.

This team is going to continue to compete this season. And I’m more optimistic about some of the schedule now for sure.

There’s a lot of positives in regard to our trajectory.

Silver linings are tough though with the recent outcomes. Very bitter pills to swallow.

Some decision making on the coaching side is absolutely maddening. But this nucleus of kids, they’re a little different. If they stick together, the next two years can be fun.
When we beat Clemson a lot of this bluster will be forgotten.

Agreed this team feels different. We’re no longer on a downward trajectory. These L’s are crushing me but at least we don’t get pushed around by P5 teams anymore. It feels like we are very close to winning again.
Yep no wants to hear about the future after 2 straight gut punches but this team is on the brink of being a winner, might be next year but hoping for a bowl this year(not expecting that)

Unfortunately this is a very accurate post.
Su is in a very precarious situation.
Baring a very strong finish i fully expect some good players to leave Dino or no Dino.
I also expect 2 coaches to leave. Both would be a major blow.
Giving a coach an extension which i was 1000% behind with a huge 2- way buyout is an excellent move by the school IF and its a critical if the school has the ability and conviction to fire the coach and eat the cost.
If on the other hand the school cant or wont fire the coach solely based on the financial impact the program will erode from within.
Everyone involved. Players Coaches ,support ,staff recruits, Donors ,EVERYONE will know and understand that the patient is going to die that there is no future.
In the past the transfer rules could hold the current players.
Recruiting would still be destroyed and coaches with options would leave but in today's world we are talking about a major problem as the better players will be faced with some very tough choices and some will bail.
SUs in a bad spot if they keep this guy unless he finishes strong.
A very bad spot.
