This football team has quit on Fran Brown .

Fran said Angeli and Collins were locked in a fierce QB battle. Fran says things.

I can’t imagine Robinson will be DC anymore. Maybe Fran keeps him on staff to coach DL. Or maybe Robinson slinks away because he doesn’t want to be humiliated.

But I wouldn’t pay attention to what Fran says. He lies sometimes.

Yep I'm rather expecting ERob to suddenly show up on the staff of any of the new coaching carousel hires.

I don't see Fran's publicly firing him for obvious reasons but that doesn't mean he'll actually be here next year.

Wait one more year. Next year he has a perfect starting quarterback. Also Fran needs to find a good backup QB and also QB3 in case he loses the starting QB.

What different personnel played compared to Game 1 or 6? Who did we bench? We were using Nixon and Villari in the 4th quarter extensively. Not like we handed the RB keys to Kerr to develop him. Waste of time… losing and not getting experience for young guys.
Honestly I don’t know how the snaps played out post-UNC. Lots of folks here alluded to Fran playing the younger guys, but I’ve yet to see the data to prove that out.

I’m just saying that Fran didn’t seem to talk much in the last month about honoring the guys who got him 10 wins last year. Seemed very clear that mentally he moved on to next season a while ago.

Im happy good posters are optimistic for next year

Gives me pause as to my absolute level of apathy towards SU. I guess things are better than they look.

I do think people are pot committed w Fran because he’s a sales man and that’s what sales guys do.

Shafer Dino and Pasqualoni were not sales guys. Easier to jettison them because they weren’t their best advocate.

Again I’m a fan . I’ll be tuning in for hoops and football. Albeit very pessimistically. Unlike the players I can’t enter the college portal. This spot is my spot

What on earth has given anyone the idea that Fran Brown will make any meaningful change with Elijah Robinson?

I would guess he lets go every other defensive assistant before he lets go his friend.

Offensively, what a joke. I don’t understand where J Williams went - and why Collins did not play the last three weeks. I get development, and Collins is not good let me clear… but how about giving the team a chance? Fillardi nor Carney did - and Carney wasn’t even really given a chance with play calling. At least Collins could throw a forward pass in the general right direction even if the pass was 50/50 to be intercepted or caught by our player

I hope it's only sometimes.

I pay for 10 season tickets for the family. Except for a few college years, family season ticket holders since 1959 starting with my dad. From my youth until now, I have seen Ben, Frank, Dick, Paul, GRob, Doug, Scott, Dino, and Fran have some ups and downs. (Those of us of a certain age remember the "Sack Mac Pack". Under the heading of perfect time, this was just a bit before 11-0.) I have felt bad Ben's time had run. I think Frank was underrated. Dick was a legend and shouldn't have taken the Pats job. Paul, perhaps somewhat like Fran, was stubborn, but he got a raw deal at the end. Erob? I'm still in therapy. Doug taught me that a "dream job" sometime just means "I'm gone when I wake up." Scott? Some people make better coordinators then head coaches - liked him until his peevishness at Middle Tennessee. Dino? "Orange is the new fast" at least until you completely abandon that offensive philosophy.

And now Fran - what to make of him. Last year went perfectly. Home run quarterback pick up who didn't get hurt. Excellent players who were underused at their SEC schools came over. Everyone thinks we have a genius hire. This year, harder schedule and we start 3-1 with a win at Clemson. Then, we all know the rest.

There is no way we aren't at least 7-5 this year if Angelli doesn't get hurt and going to a bowl. Everyone would be happy and yelling for an extension. Instead, we are doing crazy talk about buyouts. Jesus, even GRob got four years!

Fran is no fool. He knew he had nothing at QB after seeing Ricky as QB 1. That was obvious when he picked up Angelli. After Angelli was hurt, it was shown that he was right. I don't think Kyle Shanahan or Christ himself could have made our offense functional with who we had.

As for ERob, I'll give him injuries, the reality of SMU/Texas money, and graduation, but it has been hard to watch. Easy fix is to make him "Associate Head Coach" (sort of like a bank vice-president) who focuses on defensive line and recruiting - win/win.

I agree next year is big and we have to see if he holds his recruiting class together along with finding some more depth and a competent back-up QB, but I ain't going nowhere and I suspect Fran isn't either. I think Fran will learn and make course corrections. If I'm wrong, it won't be the first time. Our family crest translates from Latin to English as "Often wrong. Seldom in doubt." I remain optimistic about 2026.

Now, as for the basketball program ....

Dino was absolutely a “sales guy”. Remember that “close your eyes” stuff and the whole Orange is the New Fast slogan. The “they didn’t know” made for TV locker room speech?

Lots of coaches are heavily into the sell and the marketing. Dan Lanning at Oregon is one of them. Tons of slogans and speeches solely intended for social media posts. And he wins.

A lot of Fran’s sell isn’t intended for us. It’s meant for 17 year old high schoolers and 20 year old college football players.

Good opportunity to remind everyone that “Orange is the New Fast” originated on this board (thread below) and I didn’t get as much as a free t-shirt for it.

Problem is Fran is a sales guy trying to run an engineering department. Can’t coach. All sizzle, no steak.
Fran was a high risk/high reward hire. I’m glad we took the risk.

We’ve tried the “ball coach” approach over and over, and it hasn’t worked in ages.

No one’s disputing the last 8 games weren’t an embarrassment.

Of course, noted “ball coach” Doug Marrone, who the steak lovers here adore, lost 5 straight to end the 2011 season. And he went 4-10 over a stretch of 2011 and 2012.

Lots of different kinds of coaches can suck.

Marrone at least competed in most of those of games. No one says we have to win 10 games every year to be considered a “good team” but you can’t get the doors blown off 8 weeks in a row. Even Dinos 1-9 season he had at least a few late season games (BC, and NC state) where there was a semblance of competition. Most the games this year after Angeli went down were over by halftime because we were down a touchdown and the team would quit.

Since Coach P we have had one "ball coach" and 4 rah rah guys.

Again I don’t mind losing. Getting boat raced is embarrassing. This is embarassinf

Marrone had the guys competing.

Does anyone in the inner sanctum know how much wildhack can lean on Fran here for a mentor Or competent coordinators.

Every AD and HC should have an end of year state of the program. The problem for Fran is he isn’t going to easily explain away what happened. It was that bad. He better have a good plan to fix this. If Wildhack isn’t holding Fran accountable then he isn’t doing his job,

I became concerned after he made the players run wind sprints after the UConn win. It's just not done at this level of football.
And it was all show for Fran. He knew it would get picked up. Interesting that there have been no Fran Moments in the midst of the debacle. He stopped trying and as a season ticket holder I'm offended by that. I never want to hear Fran, Wildhack or anyone else call out the fan base ever again. Fran and the staff quit on the season. No one should ever forget that
