This is tommy's third year

Thing is, even if Tommy played absolute lights out game of his life level with no turnovers, no bad decisions, hit on everything, etc...

WE STILL WOULDVE LOST BY 20!

20!

Instead we lost by 40. Big deal.

We know that the D can play well, especially when facing a different O system. We do not know that TD can play consistently. So yeah, that should be a bigger worry going forward, while this last game the D was a bigger worry.

We were down 21 in the third - in our O that’s not out of reach. What made it out of reach is we couldn’t stop them, IMO

That margin isn't out of reach when the defense plays well, but we couldn't stop them at all. Maryland went for something like 650 yards against us yesterday.

We were down 28-7 about 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter after the second of Tommy's turnovers. Like I said, there were 3 quarters of garbage time.

Look, I already said the lines were awful. They were most at fault for the loss, and the secondary was poor in coverage.
But Tommy didn't make plays until the game was out of hand.

And saying that he threw it away seven times does not prove he had a good game. Those are 7 first downs that we didn't pick up. Those are drives that ended. Now, sometimes it's because of coverage, but sometimes it's because maybe the QB misses the opening or makes the wrong read. These things happen.

As I said to the other guy - not to you directly; you felt the need to chime in - Tommy wasn't "fine". When the game was in doubt, he didn't play that well.
After the game was out of reach and we were throwing to the backs to mitigate the effect of the rush, then he hit a bunch of throws in a row, and made his stats look better than the outcome of the game. If I told you before the game that Tommy was going to go 28-39, you would have thought we were winning that game, wouldn't you?

Peace out, Dad.

Individually of all SU players, who had the best game? I say Jackson. Who was 2nd best? Devito.

could not have said it better myself, it was garbage time for 3 quarters, throw aways don't make the plays not count, after we scored to make to 49-20 we had 4 possessions 1 punt and then 3 downs in a row, when the score was 49-20 all 4 drives tommy made a lot of easy throws and when we got into marylands side of the 50 maryland tightened up the D resulting in 3 straight turn over on downs. You watch the games for a reason, under devito the offense is averaging 22.5 PPG, he has not played well so far. If we score 7 all 4 times the game is 49-48 and totally different.

If we score 7 all 4 times it’s 49-48. Lol.

If we had scored 7 all 14 times we had the ball it’s 98.

Jackson did play well. Other than him there isnt another player who played well. Tommy had two more turnovers, threw the ball away on fourth down multiple times and didnt take yards with his legs. He wasn't able to hit pay dirt with red zone opportunities or rally the troops. He put some yards up when it didn't matter. There isnt one player or coach that performed well. We got destroyed in a game that if we had even played competitively would have landed game day. The entire team and staff shat the bed.

Watch the game over. Tommy’s first half was better than the second except for the strip from behind. He played well enough and the few mental mistakes will improve with more game experience. And you guys are going to cry all year because you want a pocket passer to be a duo threat like Dungey. He has the legs to extend a play but he’s not the same kind of runner and won’t be. And I have no doubt he’s been instructed not to be care free running.

I mean we lost by 43 I think its a silver lining that our QB for the next 3 years managed to not be awful or rather a/the reason for that lopsided score we'd be in big trouble if he had a Joe Fields/Andrew Robinson performance. Wasn't the case at all. Clemson I can't really expect much and it has nothing with his experience/inexperience. Last 9 games totally different story.

Yeah, I kept thinking maybe TD would catch fire if we could only get a stop.

There are true freshman, and redshirt freshman all over the country stepping in and putting up monster numbers. It's not the 70's or 80's anymore where only upperclassmen can be successful. There are plenty of excuses, but this isn't one i will give.

Eh everyone is different and develops at their own pace. If you think he is going to improve, then you have to admit your post is inaccurate. If you think this is devito’s ceiling, then you can stand by your post. My guess is youll concede better days are ahead for devito.
