This Sucks

I think you are stuck in an 80s time warp. Arizona and Oregon are two great offensive teams, who use only shotgun and they are top 5 rushing teams who run the ball more than they pass. They run to set up the pass. Syracuse just needs to join the modern era and looks like they can do it with Dungey

If you're going to hand off to running backs, (which is what you do with a 5th string quarterback), there's no advantage to having to hike the ball backwards for 5 yards before the play begins.

i hope it is snowing when lsu gets off the bus, and they get freaked out and we beat them because they are stunned.(that was a run on sentence)
that really would throw us for a loop. if we get snow flurries, the state shuts down completely. we talk about the days that it snowed in 1989, 2004 and 2014 because it happens that infrequently

That's how we count blizzards.

My thoughts...it could've been ED's burst on the national stage game. Instead I fear we'll see a half empty stadium in the 4th. Our sh!tty fans were leaving the Dome last week at the end of regulation...you think they'll stay around if we are down 5 TDs in the 4th?

That game has been shifted to later in the season. It will now take place in Tallahassee.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Kids a true frosh, this game might be bigger than he's ready for. Let's also not forget the story of another annointed true frosh blond haired hero who blasted UL before taking up residence as our 3rd string TE while another walk-on goes on to beat nationally ranked ND.

WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WILL HAPPEN EVER!!!!

I really hope the team is more pumped up about the game than most of you guys on here. This is a real downer of a thread. This wouldn't even be the biggest upset in SU's history. Have some faith in the coaches and the team.

Maybe Bud was right. Maybe we should drop football.

Actually, NO! Maybe we should start channeling some positive energy towards the team leading up to games. I know that the fans on this board go to the games and cheer like heck at the games, but the negativity (pardon me, realism) going into this game is getting too much run time. Let the SubStandard beat the negative drum. We are supposed to be fanatics. You have to believe the team can do this tomorrow!

Who's with me? ??

What if the Qb is going to run as well? Again, I think you have been watching too much tom Osborne and Barry switzer Nebraska and Oklahoma reruns. Don't think it will mater tomorrow where the qb lines up anyway.

Other than full wishbone offenses, today's best running attacks are out of the pistol or shotgun...

2 benefits of the shot gun for running

1. being deeper in the backfield gives the RB a better look at the defense and where the hole is developing

2. many blocking schemes require more time for them to develop which is also aided by starting deeper in the backfield.

And the downside is that it takes the RB longer to get to the hole. You also have fewer TFLs. I'd rather be 2nd and 8 than 2nd and 12.

And do we want Mahoney running the ball in this game or Fredericks?

Nothing wrong with 80'as football if the power running game is our best option.

Why not run wing T and use leather helmets...

I brought this week's SI to the game to read at halftime. There was an article on Peyton Manning and his differences with Gary Kubiak. This line stuck out to me:

"Kubiak has had success with nimble, strong-armed passers: John Elway, Jake Plummer, Matt Schaub and Joe Flacco. Those players were tailored to his system, a zone-running scheme that puts the quarterback under center so that play-action can get his receivers and tight ends open."

They don't wear leather helmets.
