Thread for folks going to Atlanta

Driving in from Columbia, SC Friday night. Staying at the Hampton Inn near the Georgia Tech Campus and will be doing the 30 minute walk over to the stadium. My 17 year old son will be joining me. The Syracuse University tailgate party is just too early a start to participate in that not to mention I got to get my money’s worth out of the hotel’s free breakfast. Plan on entering the stadium between 10 and 10:30. Seats are in the first row of section 340 ( upper deck 45 yard line). We are also going to the SC/VT game the next day. My son has unfortunately adopted the Gamecocks and not the Orange as his favorite college team. We plan on visiting the College Football Hall of Fame and the Georgia Aquarium while in downtown Atlanta. If you see an Orange (solar octane is the official color name) Toyota 4Runner with a SC license plate “GO CUSE” driving around, that will be me. Already looking forward to that weekend.
Need to find an Estate Planner and write your son out of the will ASAP... ha ha.

Made last minute plans and we are headed down this afternoon to make a week of it.

Haven’t gotten tickets yet and lots to figure out still but looking forward to being there with our family and the extended orange fam!
Go to StubHub for tickets. SU's sections are going for far less than they were selling on their website.

Oh, one more rec: the Atlanta Beltline is a nice walk/biking path and you'll eventually hit a food hall with a lot of great options (Krog Food Hall maybe? Could be making that up). I particularly like the dumplings.

Also a few great breweries out towards Avondale Estates if you're willing to drive.
There are actually two great food halls on the Beltline - Krog St. Market is the smaller one (which I prefer) and Ponce City Market is a mammoth complex in a old Sears warehouse. Both have excellent beer vendors and food. They're not that easy to get to on public transportation though.

Couldn't agree more about Avondale Estates. Three excellent breweries within walking distance of the Avondale Marta station (straight shot east from MBS) and each other. And you can walk with your beer from one brewery to the other! Also lots of restaurants within walking distance and the breweries have great food too. Wild Heaven Brewery (my favorite) has one of the best smashburgers I've ever had. If you really want to enjoy Atlanta, you have to get out of downtown.

Yep, I'll be staying in Avondale Estates at my friend's place. Big fan of one of the cafes and the arepa place in town there too.
