Are they the two candidates?McNamara, I would gladly take him right now over Hubert Davis.
Any legs to the Oats to UNC rumor? He already has the hokie jackets he brings with him. Roy probably has a few he could give him too.McNamara, I would gladly take him right now over Hubert Davis.

I’m sorry if I start some bad karma but… Gerry McNamara will always have a place in every SU fans heart. He was a part of so much SU basketball lore. He is a legend of the school. But that doesn’t mean he DESERVES to be the coach. By that standard there are a lot of athletes who deserve to be a coach. You didn’t mention that he coached Siena well this year. You said he was one of your hero’s. I’m not sure he has done enough as a coach to warrant him the job. What if Siena lost to Merrimack. Would he have DESERVED to be coach then. If that happened then he never plays Duke and then never ALMOST beats them.McNamara will always be one of my hero’s and deserves to be our head coach it’s a shame this didn’t happen three years ago
Maybe Mr. Hubert can be Coach Gerry’s top assistant and ace recruiter!
That would be highly illogicalOr vice versa.
Syracuse now is suffering from the same basic thing that UNC is: assuming that hiring an alum who had been on staff for a ,long time would work well. At least neither of us got a Kenny Payne, but we bite gt guys who seemed to have been prepared carefully to take over and simply could not get the job done to the level that fans expect and boosters demand.I’m sorry if I start some bad karma but… Gerry McNamara will always have a place in every SU fans heart. No one - at least not me - wishes anything but great things for Gerry. But please think twice before we throw DESERVES around. There were a lot of fans saying Jimmy B. DESERVED to have his sons play for him. And DESERVED to go out the way he wanted to. The University apparently agreed with them. And now is the University getting what it DESERVES???

McNamara is a different animal. He did not joust stay at Syracuse and gain tin outside experience. His Siena work has ben excellent. Sp he has HC experience, most specifically experience in rebuilding a program that was far worse off than it should have been when he started the job. The game plan he had for Dook was great, and his team never doubted that they could get the job done. All that tells me that McNamara has learned a good deal from just 2 years at Siena.
