Rex didn't do a single one of those thing son those INTs. They were dumb decisions and weak throws but they didn't come from locking on a player, only throwing to one side the entire game, nor waiting too long to throw the ball.
He literally stares down the guy he is going to throw. His “trying to extend plays” led to the fumble TD. Rex ain’t it

I get it he takes sacks and steps out for 4 yard losses instead of throwing it away but he's an acc caliber QB.

No he is not an ACC caliber QB. He is an all American thrower. There is more to being a QB than throwing the football. If he were a video game QB and Dino could control his actions from the sideline, we would have a Top 5 QB.

Without significant improvement in those two areas and a handful of others he will be a talented QB who never put it together. I for one hope he figures it out because his arm is fantastic.

He has an ACC calibre arm. In fact, he has an NFL caliber arm, but there's more to being a QB than having a hose.
I realize that and sometimes qbs develop.later. but give me the guy with the NFL arm over the fcs caliber QB.

In my opinion neither has put us in a position to win games, so maybe we should hope for better.

I rather have Chad Pennington over Jay Cutler. That being said Rex is no Chad Pennington.

2000 to now starting QB power rankings:

1. Dungey
2. Nassib

3. Anderson
4. Hunt
5. Paulus
6. Nunes
7. Patterson
8. DeVito
9. Robinson
10. Mahoney
11. Welch
12. Dantley
13. Rex
14. Long
15. Allen

No we had a prayer and our QB turned it over on every possession.

Hey, if y'all wanna blame it on QB play, then have at it. I'm just gonna get a head start on the grieving process, but I understand that it's easier to just bury the truth sometimes. And no, I'm not saying the QB play is not a problem. It's just not the problem.

Chad Pennington despite his weak arm was a very good QB who was incredibly smart. Cutler was not bright despite having arm from God.

Why did Gunther transfer out late? Was it really because he felt he had no chance to start regardless of outperforming Tommy in training camp?

Devito is a SENIOR academically! If he hasn’t figured it out by now, it isn’t going to happen. He, as others have alluded, has the arm strength, but unfortunately, that’s all he has. He doesn’t demonstrate any pocket presence whatsoever. The moment the pocket begins to break down, he panics. Have you ever seen Tommy “step up” in the pocket? I really haven’t, at least not with any consistently. Instead, he steps out and runs out of bounds, typically behind the line of scrimmage and for losses. As others have alluded to as well, he has tunnel vision and never seems to check down off his primary receiver.

It’s simply remarkable that Dino in YEAR 5 doesn’t have an adequate ACC/P5 level quarterback to put in the game in Devito’s absence while he’s injured, or a flat out better option altogether for that matter even when he’s healthy.

Why make a post like this at this time? I understand the point, its the timing of a post like this.

If someone had told you Friday night that SU would be down 6, with the ball, late in the 3rd quarter, would you take that as a 47 point dog regardless of who was playing QB? If you said "yes," why rip Rex after the fact for getting us to that point?

Rex completed 38% of his passes. Let's be serious.

Does that count all the completions to Clemson players too?

Drew Allen was the undisputed master of that.
But Rex was channeling him there today.

Drew Allen, now I have a migraine.
