Tommy Devito: Giants

Contracts are short and you invested a top pick no reason not to ride a guy like Barkley until his decline when he’s produced on bad teams. Not to mention he costs 1/3 of what elite WRs and RBs go for.

Eagles and hurts were about to take a step back as well but got him.

In all seriousness his signing basically will be what saved their season before it started. He is going to have a monster year and will keep them competitive.

It’s the one position where there shouldn’t be any question about giving a top guy market value on a short term deal. It’s not like he was an undrafted FA or 6th rounder.

Hurts is basically Cam Newton a year after his MVP season. Probably won’t fall off a cliff totally but they need the rest of the team to be elite to contend.

None of them were run out of town as an 11-1 starter.
Bo Nix practically was … lot of Auburn faithful felt he was there out of nepotism since his dad played there. Fell out of favor with the fan base because they thought they could do better. Very much like McCord.

Looking to get the first draft pick.

There are 10 teams sitting on 1-2 losses. Gonna be hard to beat all of them.

This team has enough parts to be in games but not win games.

The tank job didn't work last year. This year maybe it will. The problem is I hate the QB draft this year. IMO if the Giants take one of these QBs it will just start the clock on another 5 years of stinkings. I rather trade down and try to sign a vet QB.

Agree. but if it’s the same crew making the decisions I’m not optimistic.

My priorities:

1) Daniel jones can’t get injured as a backup. CHECK
2) tank - pls. Finally succeed here. Last year screwed us.
3) get top talent in draft - no qb. Probably trading down to accumulate more picks.
4) sign veteran qb for two years.
5) draft qb next year.

The NFL guys on SiriusXM this morning thought it was mostly about #1 and not paying that money.

Even the vet QB list is kinda slim. For FAs you have Darnold and Fields. Both would be 1-2 year stop gaps. Unless you think you can turn around Lawrence or Young, there is much out there.

Still I rather build everything else and hope that you get lucky with a QB rather than starting with the hope of getting lucky with a QB and then figuring out everything else.

Just an unconscionable mess.

Team went from a guy who thought a computer was a flash in the pan product to a guy who lives in an excel spreadsheet.
