Tommy Devito: Giants

So with the Giants signing both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston where does that leave Tommy? Wilson and Winston will both be active on game days and isn't Tommy out of options for the taxi squad? Hasn't he exceeded taxi squad limits for the Giants? Does he have to look for another team? When you go to another team does your taxi squad clock start all over again?

If we draft a QB, we aren't keeping 4.

He can go to the practice squad, will have to clear waivers 1st.

I do not understand why anyone cares anymore. The kid stunk when he was here and bolted…
He was our most heralded QB since McNabb, a lot expectations and potential, but failed, some of it his own fault and some of the coaching staff for assembling porous olines. I follow all the ex-Cuse guys in the NFL regardless if they transferred out.

Tommy GRADUATED, but yes….ultimately left with more Orange football to be played on the table.

In 2025 it looks like not dotting the last I on your last term paper compared to the kids leaving schools now.

On the surface, I agree with your assessment, but how do the agreements set the Giants up for the long haul? Both contracts are short term, does that indicate the Giants want to develop a top prospect (no necessarily McCord, but I would be cool with McCord in NY)? Could the scheme be to get the Giants on track and bring in a prospect to develop him without pressure of performing from day 1?

I honestly don't have a good answer and am curious to see what happens. Obviously, anyone with inside info, legit inside info, would be appreciated but let's be real, people with legit inside info rarely leak info unless they are allowed to leak said info.

I feel like the giants are punting on a QB till next year

Thanks, that may well be their position. I remain unsure yet your point is a clear, viable option. If the Giants do punt, Devito likely stays another year.

He could fling the ball, but didn't know how to play QB. He was a Seven on Seven guy.

Isn’t that on the coaches to teach him that? Illinois did he well enough that he wound up in the NFL

Do you think the coaches didn’t try? It is on him. Illinois was Devito’s sixth year of college football, and they did not ask him to do a lot. It was a good match, but it’s not like he lit up the stat sheet at Illinois.

Yet for the last 2 years he’s made nearly 2 million for being 1 of the 100 best in the world at QB.

Go figure…
