Sounds like Linton is close to locking up winning the other starting DE spot. He is 6’5 but is only listed at 224 pounds on the roster. Guessing he might be more of a factor in passing downs. Might get subbed out some when the opposition is probably going to run the ball. Also Kingsley is a STUD !! will be better than Alton ! Quelly stepping up to
Tommy said linton is a beast ! He said this defense is the real deal , no not because we are a little banged up on offense eitherSounds like Linton is close to locking up winning the other starting DE spot. Linton was previously listed in the 2-deep as a starter at LB. Having said that, I watched the bowl game that Tony White coached last year and they usually had at least 4 rushers and as many as 6 at times.Sounds like Linton is close to locking up winning the other starting DE spot. Always seems like a really nice "kid" when interviewed.
Good observation on WhiteLinton was previously listed in the 2-deep as a starter at LB. Having said that, I watched the bowl game that Tony White coached last year and they usually had at least 4 rushers and as many as 6 at times.
I think that a lot more to do with Herman Edwards versus how white wanted to run the d. Remember as soon as white left they switched back to 4-3Good observation on White
Good point. I forgot they were transitioning during the bowl gameI think that a lot more to do with Herman Edwards versus how white wanted to run the d. Remember as soon as white left they switched back to 4-3
Don't think that's the case, as San Diego State also usually had more than 3 rushers in their 3-3-5. Hopefully, we'll find out in a couple of weeks.I think that a lot more to do with Herman Edwards versus how white wanted to run the d. Remember as soon as white left they switched back to 4-3
Kingsley flew under the radar here as a recruit, but was an excellent get w/ a very good offer list. Likely a Reno Ferri pickup. Also Kingsley is a STUD !! will be better than Alton ! Quelly stepping up to
Like last year it all depends on the lineI have a very good feeling that Tommy DeVito is going to have a very good year. (Fingers crossed there is a safe and successful season). I think last years experiences have taught this young man invaluable lessons that will help him recognize and be highly successful in situations where he may have struggled last year. I am willing to bet that Tommy DeVito spent countless hours watching film and did all the little things that were needed to be done. I also believe that Coach Gilbert is the perfect fit as a Quarterback Coach/Offensive Coordinator and that he will have this offense humming. Here is to a successful Syracuse University Football Offense led by a highly successful Tommy DeVito. Go Orange!
I feel more then three will rush but it will depend on the situation. The lbs will be used as rushers or delayed blitz.Don't think that's the case, as San Diego State also usually had more than 3 rushers in their 3-3-5. Hopefully, we'll find out in a couple of weeks.
I'm not saying he had 4 Linemen rushing-He had 3 DL, but rushers from other positions, primarily LB, on most plays.I feel more then three will rush but it will depend on the situation. The lbs will be used as rushers or delayed blitz.
I think you are right on this. But there was an article published a couple of days ago that said Kingsley and Linton was lining up as the first team DEs in practice. Pretty sure we are going to be doing that Aztec stuff, moving some players around late from one spot to another, so traditional position assignments are going to get somewhat blurred. But Steve is apparently playing a lot of DE right now in practice.I thought Linton was listed as the 1st team OLB On the spring depth chart.
I assume he still is but moves up to the line as a rush end in different sets.
He did a nice job in this interview. Looks like he has matured a lot since early in his career at SU, when he sometimes come off a little brash and cocky. One of my favorite things about following college sports is watching the athletes grow from kids into men during their time at Syracuse.Love how he mentioned Ed Hendrix and Anthony Queely as guys who are stepping up for him on the outside. Super excited to see what those two have in store for us.
Really? I don't remember him ever coming off that way.He did a nice job in this interview. Looks like he has matured a lot since early in his career at SU, when he sometimes come off a little brash and cocky.
New Jersey bias!Really? I don't remember him ever coming off that way.
