stay grounded the O line is a mash unit
But we might get pushed back 2 weeks due to the Carolinas , ND .Clemson all having injury and stoppages which would help us as well a 2 week delay heals us and gives our new systems time to gel .i will say this I’ve seen a lot of practice clips with tommy ripping off long runs and making lots of people miss inside and out side the pocket and making plays under duress which he couldn’t do last year due to injury , to much pressure and scheme . Gilbert is a difference maker .

I certainly believe you about the offensive line. What makes me scratch my head though is that this unit was getting healthy at the end of last season. I just don't understand how this unit had become plagued so quickly again

These are big boys that when that weight moves it causes injuries we are not the only team one Acc team is down to 6 lineman I heard . During quarantine lots of guys had no access to equipment or desire to workout
All over the country these kids lost 3 months .
Tommy was fortunate to have what he needed
Most injuries are just bad luck . When tommy got hurt vs holly cross the tackle looked like nothing he just got twisted a bit , he felt it the next play he threw a pick it was way under thrown when he let it go he felt it and that’s why it was so short . Funny 4 of his 5 pics had a story or reason behind it just bad luck . But yes he and all QBs get lucky with dropped pics to so it usually evens out .

Great to hear! Hope we don't require a long runway / learning curve to get the defensive unit competitive.

I think it was UNC that said they have 6 O-linemen ready to play but not much else. Sucks that we're dealing with O-line hurt right now but as you said other teams are facing similar challenges.

Hopefully things will work out and we can see the passing offense take off again.

You tell us to stay grounded and then finish with a bunch of reasons to be excited!

I actually think the line will be better than most people think, for the last 3 games it was functional. Then add in Gilbert and a healthy Tommy and I think we are going to be closer to 40ppg than 30ppg

I am extremely optimistic about the defense due to both the scheme change and the seeming switch in philosophy to get our best athletes on the field rather than shove square (less athletic) pegs into round holes (that are not flexible due to scheme/philosophy)

Great post.

Lots of principals return on offense + more experienced QB = better offense.

If the defense can do their part, then I love the direction we're headed.

I got this from multiple sources the d is going to be very very very good I was like yes the secondary and the line but then I questioned the LBs and I was told they are very very good big fast athletic, the kicking game is top notch
Yes the Qb is healthy and ready TE is another strength, WRs by committee is strong
TD likes 2 second team guys looking strong
Williams and penna freshman WRs I think I have that name correct .

Then it sounds like it all comes down to the OL, like usual. Fingers crossed
 
So for conversation sake. If Bleich is not deemed eligible and the Davis' are both hurt. What's the starting OL? Servais-Tisdale-Vettorello-ohmygodthisisbad-Bergeron?

Interesting note about Pena...
 
Not that I ever want low scoring games but would love if defense can win them games when offense only puts up 17-21 points. Hate when there is so much pressure on offense to win them every game. Think these coaches are going to do some special things and give us something to cheer about

Any news on how the RBs are doing? Tommy declined to discuss them, but I think he implied things are going well there.

Adams, Howard, Jordan. All have shown signs of being really good. Who is going to start? Will all three play a lot?

Then he will probably start at RG. I feel like he never has taken a starting spot ever but when he was forced into spot duty he was always solid.

I really don't believe it was his fault. The scheme last year hardly ever called for the QB to use the middle of the field. It was super strange
