Tommy DeVito Interview | Aug 27

I really don't believe it was his fault. The scheme last year hardly ever called for the QB to use the middle of the field. It was super strange
It will be different this year . Nykiem looked great in spring as well . He is mentally focused that’s his key . If we block up front the wealth will be spread pretty evenly .

So is the OL a short-term injury concern (1-3 weeks)? Is Bleich being included as a contributor or assumed he will ultimately get denied by NCAA?

MarK Pierre is not going away quietly.

I think Tisdale will be more than serviceable at one of the guard spots.

Kid can ball. He just has to make sure he doesn't fumble.

Sounds like Linton is close to locking up winning the other starting DE spot. He is 6’5 but is only listed at 224 pounds on the roster. Guessing he might be more of a factor in passing downs. Might get subbed out some when the opposition is probably going to run the ball.
Have heard, and its been discussed since he’s stepped foot on campus, Linton has elite speed off the edge.

Excited to see “Jaguar” as Tommy seems to call him, play a much bigger role this year.

Additionally, I think what we see as a change in our outside receivers this year is guys who can get above the coverage and highpoint the ball/work through duress to make the catch. More like Ishmael, than big play/wide open guys like Custis/Jackson.

Think we have much better hands this year than the past two.

If the OL can do anything, I'll let myself get excited about QB/WR/RB
I’m a little worried here. We had to move a defensive guy to the OL, as well as Elmore. Makes me think we’ve had a lot of misses and some guys aren’t ready to play physically

Oh, crap.

Who's jaguar? Nyk Johnson? Pierre?

You know, when we recruited Markenzy I was one of the few that LOVED his highlight tape.

After Markenzy did not see the field after his sophomore year I felt I had been duped. I am amazed and excited to hear this. I hope this kid balls out soon to prove to everyone what he can do

Were was it indicated that Elmore was moved to the offensive line? Also who from dL was moved to ol?

I think it was in one of the Syracuse.com writeups that Elmore was getting practice at guard

Practice at guard can always just mean being a body there for a unit. Doesn’t mean he would be on the two deep

Oh, Lord, let's hope not. But I have my concerns after some of the statements made about the extent of injuries on the line

I don’t really see any DL candidates unless it’s a walkon

I sincerely hope that this is not Rondi, but I have a sinking feeling that's probably who it is

You tell us to stay grounded and then finish with a bunch of reasons to be excited!

I actually think the line will be better than most people think, for the last 3 games it was functional. Then add in Gilbert and a healthy Tommy and I think we are going to be closer to 40ppg than 30ppg

I am extremely optimistic about the defense due to both the scheme change and the seeming switch in philosophy to get our best athletes on the field rather than shove square (less athletic) pegs into round holes (that are not flexible due to scheme/philosophy)

I am more optimistic about the D. Not sure where closer to 40 points comes from with question marks at 3/4 wr positions. The oline will be better but the lack of recruiting and development at wr is what's weighing this O down as of late. Also, tommy needs to prove he can make guys better, throw guys open and motivate and lead. Haven't seen that yet.

A sad truth about being a RB is if yuu fumble especially early your out . He fumbled early
And got passed by . I always liked him and hope he makes the most of this chance

I think Elmore has been playing guard as a precaution. Just in case guys opted out or if we got injuries.
