So there's only two reasons why he would leap out of Nebraska. Him and Rhule are not working or FSU is incentivizing him to come with both big salary/resources and some language guaranteeing his retention if the new OC becomes HC or he himself gets a shot.

Good move for him. FSU recruits better then the team in the cornfield does, and he kinda sorta knows what type of ball is played in ACC country. Unfortunately, he'll do well there.

Nebraska is not setting any records in the BT, and indeed if the FSU D becomes top level again under White, he will get some good looks as HC.

Their defense really wasn’t the issue. I imagine it was gassed 90% of the time because their offense was historically awful.

I doubt he lasts 3 years. Either that entire staff gets canned or he takes a HC job. His career has ramped up quickly so I don't see him being an assistant for long
