Top 5 of the Last 50: SU Quarterbacks

Of all our position groups this is the easiest to pick. Possibly Nassib could be considered. Hard to argue though.
Todd Philcox was our starter just his last year here in 1988 leading SU to a 10-2 record, a win in the Hall of Fame bowl vs LSU and was in the NFL for 9 years. He should be included somehow too.

* Offseason and/or practice squad member only

I listened in on the show when they did it. They specifically didn’t take into account nfl, strictly career while at cuse. 10-2 is a great season though

He got to play after Don McPherson graduated. Philcox was undrafted I think but stayed in the NFL despite it being a drop back qb not much of a dual threat like many of our qb’s.

In a later era, McPherson and Graves would have had better chances at sticking in the NFL for a while. They weren't yet ready for dual threat QBs that weren't as transcendent as Cunningham.

Who do you take off to include him though?

ERA makes this an apples to giraffes comparison. You put 2024 McCord on that 95 team throwing to Marvin Harrison and that would be our second national title easily.

Using the same system? We didn't even have intermediate routes let alone short passes back then. With a poor pass blocking OL too.

No Dantley or Patterson?
Cam was actually pretty good considering he came in as a walk-on. He engineered the Notre Dame upset. Perry suffered from a terrible Grob offensive line. He would have been much better if he got Oline support. Perry was a camp arm for the Bills and I think Cam was too (Redskins? Saints? Colts? Ravens? Buccaneers? I can't remember but it was one if them). That's a lot further than most college QBs.

List is spot on.
Nassib was a great QB for us but I feel Dungey's legs and his willpower to getting us 10 wins gives us the edge.

I agree and also think Nassib didn't has as many 'moments' as Dungey. The BC run, the BC Fight, the Miami knee, the UVA TD, the Clemson upset, the 10 win season, etc
