Top 5 of the Last 50: SU Quarterbacks

Maybe not a popular opinion but I really feel like Eric and Kyle could be a coin flip. Hard to compare the two very different styles and coaching staffs.

Next five in some order? (Post 1975 era only)
Philcox, Nassib, Hurley, ……then it gets really blurry. Rj? Nunes?

Todd Philcox was our starter just his last year here in 1988 leading SU to a 10-2 record, a win in the Hall of Fame bowl vs LSU and was in the NFL for 9 years. He should be included somehow too.

* Offseason and/or practice squad member only

I hung out with him a few times during Spring Break ‘89 in the Bahamas. A friend of mine was crushing on him and I was her way in because I knew who he was. In anticipation of the inevitable question, yes, yes she was.

Probably have to consider Kevin Mason somewhere in there. Stats weren't great, but he helped keep our heads above water during a transition period.

I agree with the top 5 although I would change the order to:

McPherson
McCord
McNabb
Dungy
Graves
I think a case could certainly be made for that top 3. Donnie came in 2nd in the Heisman balloting and, let's face it, should have won.

Kyle was the best passer in program history

And of course, Donovan.

You can juggle those 3 guys depending upon your own criteria, but I have no problem with how you have ranked that top 3.

McPherson not getting the Heisman was the second biggest SU Heisman snub second only to Jim Brown...who also lost out to the Notre Dame HYPE Machine, I believe Paul Horning won in 57 for a very unimpressive Notre Dame squad!!!!

I like the list.

But I can't believe we're this deep into just throwing out other names without mentioning another QB for a 10-win season:
