-Hak DNP
J Flynn: DNP
Wes : 5 pts
Donte's inferno: 0 points.

i know that phoenix team very well and there is no reason why Hak should be getting a DNP with the on that roster other than an injury.

I think Hak will get traded at some point this year and Flynn plays on a team with about 8 point guards.

...actually watched the Minnesota game and Wes played okay...ready for the bomb...he was the starting 2G...that is right; played the 2G...stayed on perimeter nearly all time out...hit a 3...had a great feed for drive and layup...and had a few assists...he was not on floor in end...
By the way...Minn. should have won game at end.

Both Hak and Flynn played well in preseason 2 games so dont understand how they did not get in...particularly when teams were going 10-11 deep...not good for them.

This topic was going to be my first post. Both the Houston and Sacramento games were on tv last night and I kept switching back to see if I could catch them in the game. No dice. NBA, for the most part, is only interesting to me if SU players are playing. MSG better not get taken off the air.

wes played 2g nearly all of last year too..i really dont think he will have a productive nba career until he is gone from sota' and on a roster where he can actually be at the 3

Minnesota has a bunch of forwards and no guards. The only guards they played last night were Rubio, Barea and Ridnour; none of those guys can really play the 2 for a long period of time. On the other hand they also played Beasley, Derrick Williams, Anthony Randolph, Anthony Tolliver, Darko, Love and Wes Johnson. Wes is the only one in that group that could really even come close to playinng the 2 spot. Fact is, if he's not playing at SG, he's probably not gonna get much PT at all.

Can Wes play the 2? I don't know. I'm not optimistic about either Flynn or Wes sticking in the NBA very long. Maybe RF can shed light about Wes's situation from a Twin Cities perspective.

I'm not sure what happened with Donte Green, but I watched the Kings game to see Jimmer's debut and the only PT that Donte got was the last 30 seconds of the first half where he was guarding Kobe. Kobe did a nice crossover move and left Donte to pick up his jock.

Wes will be in the NBA for a while, but more than likely as a role player off the bench.

Minnesota has a nice team on its way. Even getting a bit out of Darko Milicic. Rubio surprised me. He may be the real deal. Has a bit of Ginobli in him.

I may have revisionist history but my memories of Wes' senior year was he started out a small big forward and became a big small forward. He seemed much more an inside force early on and later in the year he seems to drift towards the perimeter.

Knicks are looking for Guards. But probably not 5'7" ones. I see they signed that Lin kid from Harvard . Wish they didn't dump Andy. I can't believe a NBA with room for JJ Redick or Luke Ridnour can't have room for Andy Rautins. Also tells you Chauncey is all done if the Knicks are looking for guards after dumping him..

The knicks had to dump chauncey to get chandler... it wasnt because they thought he sucked, but hes not worth the 15 mil cap hit thats for sure.

he isnt hurt. gentry has tried him at the 3 and he is squarely behind the other 4 now...

Ridnour and Andy aren't comparable at all, and Redick is a better shooter and defender than Andy.

Hak had the flu and missed most of camp. Maybe related to that. Could be still recovering. Live in Phoenix, was reported in the paper last week.

Perhaps explains why the Orange never met their 'potential' over the last few year in the tourney, the players just weren't as good as they thought they were. Flynn and Wes could be argued are two of the biggest draft 'busts' in recent years. JB is a better coach than he's given credit, he made those guys college stars and maxed their potential. I mean Donte never showed much in college but the others were in systems that maxed their potential and got them drafted higher than they should have, they like Melo should be writing SU an alumni check as a token of thanks.

I was just thinking about this; especially as far as Flynn went. Flynn went 6th in that draft, the top 5 was

Blake Griffin
Thabeet
James Harden
Tyreke Evans
Ricky Rubio

Thabeet is a bigger bust than Jonny. It's obviously way too early to say anything about Rubio, but he is looking pretty solid. Griffin is a star. Harden is a very good player, Tyreke is a good player.

The next 5 were

Flynn
Steph Curry
Jordan Hill
Demar Derozan
Brandon Jennings

The only guy that Jonny has been definitely better than in the top 10 is Thabeet. Rubio, like I said, you can't really call either way. Maybe Jordan Hill.

I always thought Jonny was overrated going that high in the draft. It was a ridiculously deep draft in point guards. I was pimping Ty Lawson over Jonny at the time. 11 point guards went in the first round, depending on how you define Tyreke Evans. They were, in order: Evans, Rubio, Flynn, Curry, Jennings, Holiday, Lawson, Teague, Maynor, Collison, Roddy Buckets. Has Jonny been better than any of them? Would any team trade anyone of those guys straight up for Jonny right now?

Well, in fairness to Jonny, 'Sota did draft 9/11 point guards from that first round, so there was kind of a logjam.

Hak is just a classic journeyman. He stays in the league as instant offense off the bench, but he is never in any teams long term "plans".

Wes and Jonny were just terribly terribly overrated. Two guys who don't play a lick of defense and now they can't even get their shot off in the league. They just look lost.

And to the guy comparing Rautins to JJ Redick and Luke Ridnour... :rolling:

I really don't understand Minnesota. Their whole team seems to be point guards and small forwards.

I still have this crazy idea in the back of my head that a way for the NCAA to counter the early migration of talent to the NBA would be to allow players who hadn't used up their eligiblity or gotten their degree to come back to school, get the degree and play for the college team even if they had played pro ball. That way guys who went too early and enedded to work on their games could come back, get better and get ready for another try at pro ball. meanwhile, the colleges could get some of their talent back for a while and the players involved could advise their younger teamamtes on what it takes and if they are ready yet.
