Tournament Resumes YTD / Selection Show

You talked me into agreeing with this post when I originally thought Ohio State would leapfrog UMD. You were spot on. Interestingly, despite the tourney seeding, both the coaches and media have Ohio State ahead of Maryland in their polls (and us at #5 in both) but of course RPI is king In lacrosse.
as far as wins go, the terps might have the best resume in lacrosse history. they didn't go undefeated, but rarely does anyone nowadays (2022 umd excluded). their lone nick was losing to rutgers. but tosu had one of those as well.

maryland was in the conversation for the #1, not the 3 or 4. eye test or not, their season was crazy good.

But they did have losses to two teams at or below .500. Michigan was not a great loss, along with the loss to Rutgers.

sure. their 3 losses vs 1 for cornell is why they got the 2. tho i don't recall any committee member stressing an opponents' loss by record, if anything it's always by rpi rank.
their wins is also why they got the 2.

ohio state's cumulative resume didn't stack vs maryland or even princeton.

what's disappointing is lacrosse's relegation to bush league status for what's supposed to be its showcase. we all should be used to it by now. colgate can buy round trip tix from 'cuse to columbus for this weekend @ under $300 right now! a 50 person party that's $15k! don't know how many seats available. and crow flies hamilton is 400 miles. nd has their own plane(s). it's all so dumb.

i'm not crying any tears for the buckeyes, tho. or notre dame. winner moves on.

If their only loss was to Buttgers they should have been out of contention for #1!
