Tournament Resumes YTD / Selection Show

I love how they can drag every team in the big "East" tourney out to Denver but the ACC tourney has to be in NC every damn year.

Yeah a couple of years they had it in Chester, PA, which I admit was somewhat convinent for me but at least it was kind of in the middle for everyone.

Yea wish was back in chester pa as that is like a 5min drive for me plus i get in free at that stadium as my dad did all the electrical there n even use to be on stand by for all events till he retired. Anytime lax is there even pll im always there .

They were supposed to rotate it to all 5 ACC schools (we'd host twice every ten years), but that plan got scrapped.

i wouldn't be ready to jump off a building if cuse doesn't get it done today. last year alone, both umd and uva fizzled late, uva pretty hard, and then worked their way to the semis against each other for the terps to make the final.

denver handled the big east, although got blasted in the be semis by 'nova and then was a 3rd ff team.

if they get in, off a loss it's likely to be @ psu or osu as any acc game will be try to be avoided when possible, and they'd be going against 4/5 or 6 likely. army with a win out they could square with maybe harvard and avoid a flight.

SUs a lock after tonight
SU up to 6 in RPI with a 2 SOS.

0-3 vs. top 5, 2-1 vs. 6-10, 3-1 vs. 11-20, and 5-0 vs. 21+.

You think they gotta win Sunday to get a home game or could still depends on what happens with the other conferences?
They play either #5 or #8 (for now, but if Duke beats UNC they could climb to 6). Lose and they won't fall so much, and 2-4 becomes 2-5 vs. the top 10. At most, they probably fall to 7 or 8.

Depending on how much the committee values RPI, I'd say a home game is in play. A win on Sunday, cements it, I would think.

Depends on what happens around them but they could get one even if they lose

If we're already up to 6, a win Sunday shouldn't hurt that. Hopefully the committee & ESPN love a Sunday night 7:30pm game in the Dome to end the first round!

While I am probably tempting fate for an SU vs Army round 1 matchup can I just say that once again Army proved yesterday why it's not worth scheduling them. Another absolute choke job in the semi finals of the Patriot. That was another classic Army letdown/choke performance in the Patriot tourney.

In other words, kick back and enjoy all the Saturday games.

Can we jump Ohio State if Maryland wins, or will they get the same RPI boost that we'll get from playing Duke again?

It will probably be difficult to move ahead of OSU at this point. They play #1, we play #5 (Duke and UNC essentially switched places after lats night's game). Obv, if SU and MD win, we would. If SU and OSU win, it would probably come down to OWP (and to a lesser extent, OOWP). They have opponents AF, Utaf, and Det Mercy playing today and tomorrow. We have Utah, Towson, Colgate, and MD.

Things would need to break right for us to have a chance to jump OSU if we both win.

For completeness' sake, Here is SU's line now:

#7 RPI

0-3 top 5
2-1 6-10
3-1 11-20
5-0 21+

plus SOS of 2. UNC's SOS is 10. OSU is 18. Dook is 9. Maryland 1, Cornell 16, Princeton 8.

I wonder how much the committee takes that into account when seeding.

Syracuse is safely in the field after Friday’s results, which include its second defeat of Notre Dame. Harvard’s loss to Princeton was also a plus. The Orange could be in line for home-dome advantage in the first round of the NCAA tournament, too.

Annapolis, Md.

(8) Notre Dame vs. ATLANTIC 10/Richmond

Annapolis, Md.
(5) Duke vs. BIG EAST/Georgetown
(4) Penn State vs. COASTAL/Towson

Hempstead, N.Y.
(3) Princeton vs. PATRIOT/Boston University
(6) BIG TEN/Ohio State vs. North Carolina

Hempstead, N.Y.
(7) Syracuse vs. Harvard
(2) IVY/Cornell vs. METRO ATLANTIC/Sacred Heart-AMERICA EAST/Bryant winner

Last three included: Notre Dame, North Carolina, Harvard
First three on the outside: Army, Michigan, Colgate

Would love to beat Duke can get into that 4/5. Don't want to see Harvard again or Cornell.
