Trashiest win I've ever seen

Couldn't have happened against a better program, save Buttgers.

I still have major questions about what it is we want to do well. On defense we're so passive, on offense we seemingly have a beast in Willis that we just don't turn to, and we get a lot of passing yards but it doesn't feel like we actually pass... well?

But there were positives

Deslaurier made some plays. That guy's a mutant.

Woody made some kicks.

Villari had a 100 yard receiving game. Seemed like a very quiet 100 yards, but he did it.

JRS made a man's play to get the TD.

Took the whole game but we did start to show pressure could get through.

We had some key guys out and Cook clearly wasn't 100% and we still got the W, ugly as it was.

I manifested Angeli and even I was ready to see Collins today. He and the team overcame big adversity and that seemed impossible earlier in the game.

Season goals are still intact, which seemed unbelievable earlier today.
Quiet?

Dude was great

What the heck does that even mean?
That he had a quiet 100 yard game?

Usually a 100 yard game receiving is a big game, especially for a tight end. A fairly imposing performance.

Is that the feeling you got about Villari's game today? It's not how it felt to me. I suspect if you asked most fans who had the best receiving game today they'd say JRS for the TDs, or would mention Gill because of the sideline grab. But it was Villari. Thus a quiet game.

I don't know why you're trying to pick a fight about how I chose to describe something. Zero need for that.

Elijah is a major issue but I was impressed by the way the D battled in the second half. Deslauriers is a stud.

The DL getting manhandled is a major problem.

When it's a hurry up, first read offense Angeli can do okay out there, but he really struggles besides that (and the OL doesn't help).

Yasin needs to be getting the ball way more. He's so much more dynamic than Nixon.
When did the DL get manhandled? I was shocked the defense played as well as they did against this team and actually kept us in the game. 20 points. Save a couple of atrocious runs, we actually stop the run. This was all on the offense, We better establish the run, SA is not Mccord, We were supposed to do that anyways right? I do not care that this was Connecticut, The defense played way better today. Certainly lots to think about

That sucked horribly but thats a game we lose every damn time with babers, shafer, probably marrone and definitely g rob.

It doesnt turn around in one season.

I’ll plant my flag here and say Fran’s the guy and I’ll take the win and move the hell on.

Anyone who says its back to the same old is casual or blind

I'm glad you don't care it was Connecticut, but for one of the weakest teams on our schedule I don't know how you're not worried how it scales up.

They had a ton of 7-10 yard runs, especially on first down. In the second half we did a better job of tackling but we almost blew it at the end when they ran the same play twice in a row for back to back firsts (IIRC).

Against a non-P4 that is a huge red flag.

Well said. I was getting a pretzel when the pick happened. Lots of fans left when I was headed back in. I heard one tell the usher “i’ve seen enough of this.”

Lots of folks expected what they were used to. But clearly they *hadn’t* seen enough.

UCONN is better than everyone thinks. Mora has done a great job. They are no longer an easy out.

I thought it was more of an introspective 100 yard game.

I think UCONN is one of the weaker offensive teams, but they are underrated defensively. With Mora and a host of P5 transfers - it’s a quality defense even if it is G5.

I thought our defense adjusted really well and basically shut them down the second half and would have closed it out in regulation if not for one of the luckiest catch/throws I’ve seen in a while.

The offense however - man, we have a lot of work to do. But I give Fran a lot of credit - he had the balls to stick with his guy (Angeli) and with the outcome here and how he played the last 6 minutes and into OT - that builds a lot of confidence for him. Hopefully it pays dividends down the road.
