Greed on the part of whom?2 million a year, that is outrageous;NIL and greed is ruining college sports!

I will say the very small number of drops last year was excellent and very refreshing. Wonder if they all have naturally good hands or if maybe it was just a result of the number of reps they were getting and also McCord throwing very accurate and catchable balls with a very nice tight spiral and appropriate touch. Love receivers that play big and strong and we had a lot of that last year. Even Gill seems to be improving on that. Hatcher seems to be the only one right now that I question his ability to be strong at the point of the catch.its certainly a loss and I think everyone knows that. But what can we do? We're not going to throw huge money at him just because someone else may be apparently. We also have some guys who just may do very well in the slot as well. Probably not quite Pena level at least yet, but be very solid there and improve and build for next year and beyond. And we can hopefully use his money elsewhere to improve the team in other spots for this season.
That is a BS headline. Fran is straight up and told it like it is to him and to the media which is awesome. He thinks its a ridiculous amount of money. I wouldn't really say he was blasting Pena.Whoa. Someone else might have posted this, but I haven't seen it. Just posted on SI:

Syracuse HC Fran Brown Blasts WR Trebor Pena Over NIL Dispute That Led to Transfer
'I treated him right, did everything that was needed, and I just said, 'Yo, you got to go.''www.si.com
I was thinking that myself. I think with a meeting where Pena and Fran just sit down and have an honest talk if he wanted to come back, he would be able to. That's assuming whatever deal he thinks he is going to get falls through and he wants to come back.I wonder what the chances are the Pena ends up back at Syracuse
If that came to pass I could see Fran letting the team decide.I wonder what the chances are the Pena ends up back at Syracuse

Are you serious? Either someone was poaching him or he lacks the class necessary of A Captain. If he was seriously upset with our NIL offering, he should have brought that up at the end of the prior semester. Fran was quoted that it’s more than a coordinator is paid.Greed on the part of whom?

I really dislike internet age reporting. That’s such a trash “give me clicks” headline. I see this all the time on social media.Whoa. Someone else might have posted this, but I haven't seen it. Just posted on SI:

Seriously, what's wrong with this? Seems accurate, and the headline seems fine to me.I really dislike internet age reporting. That’s such a trash “give me clicks” headline. I see this all the time on social media.
You just take a job at company A and three months later company B reaches out and offers 2x, are you saying it’s greedy to take the new job? You are an at will employee, no contract, you are free to leave whenever you want. There’s no greed involved by the player if that is how it unfolded. Are you serious? Not as a captain, he couldn't.I was thinking that myself. I think with a meeting where Pena and Fran just sit down and have an honest talk if he wanted to come back, he would be able to. That's assuming whatever deal he thinks he is going to get falls through and he wants to come back.
I guess I have a different definition of what “blasting” someone is.Seriously, what's wrong with this? Seems accurate, and the headline seems fine to me.
I get that. I got the sense that Fran blistered him pretty good.I guess I have a different definition of what “blasting” someone is.
He hasn’t been a part of NFL evaluations for months and months. No one would take him a week from now. He's not an underclassmen. This year will be his 6th year I believe. Thinking he should not have to declare. May be wrong.
there definitely won't be kyle mccord numbers this year. Before it even starts all of us need NOT to compare the two. mccord was literally historic, historic in his numbers in the acc, historic by cuse history and soon to be in the NFL doing great things. If he needs Kyle McCord to hit his numbers, he's not getting it. There was one Kyle last year. There might not be one this year.

No one should (not saying you are just blabbing here) even begin to hope collins can be as good as mccord. We can hope he's good real good, lets say a notch above dungy and shrader. If he's that good we'll be ok, meaning competetive in most games.
Spend 8 weeks in boot camp, and one night crawl under barb wire with your rifle. Meanwhile above you live machine gun fire, and you need to get through as fast as you can.Yep, and there's many of us who competed in D3 sports and didn't make a dime. But did it for the love of sports. We also woke up at 6 am and beat our bodies. There's a bit of entitlement in the belief that current football or basketball players are the only ones that work hard or have obligations.
Agree 144%* -- McCord's level of production was unicorn, video game numbers.
There literally isn't another QB out there -- and I mean ANY of them -- who could come in here and put up the same statistics. Even if Collins [or Williams, or whoever] is pretty darn good, there is no way that Pena would post the same type of stats. Because McCord was a unicorn with elite arm talent / accuracy.
I guess what confuses me is that this wasn't anything new. Pena understood this at the end of last year, and once McCord declared for the draft. Why not bail then? Or rather, why wait to go through spring practice, be elected a captain, etc. and THEN pull this?

That was my immediate take. If that does happen, then perhaps I can regain some respectability around here with my predictions after my McCord staying fiasco.I wonder what the chances are the Pena ends up back at Syracuse
