Im still not sure if Fran was talking about Trebor with the $2mil, or if thats just stories he's heard of receivers asking for that much
On the Cuse Sports Talk interview he said that number but then slipped and said $2000, then corrected himself and said "or whatever number I said". I inferred that to mean the $2m isn't the exact number. But who knows, I'm reading tea leaves.Im still not sure if Fran was talking about Trebor with the $2mil, or if thats just stories he's heard of receivers asking for that much
As a side note, most of for players getting more than a million have hundreds of thousands of followers on instagram
Pena has 5,000.
Really hope for this young mans sake his agent didn’t just overplay his hand…..
He let it slip. It’s the real number. On the Cuse Sports Talk interview he said that number but then slipped and said $2000, then corrected himself and said "or whatever number I said". I inferred that to mean the $2m isn't the exact number. But who knows, I'm reading tea leaves.
He’s leading our Program. He’s our Fran.
What? I thought exactly the opposite? Have you heard him speak much on these interviews.I wonder if Fran is going to regret that interview. Loved the transparency, but he came off fresh from a conflict and it wasn't fully thought through. You can tell by letting the curses slip.
I think the only thing he is regretting is not having the talk with him earlier.I wonder if Fran is going to regret that interview. Loved the transparency, but he came off fresh from a conflict and it wasn't fully thought through. You can tell by letting the curses slip.
For sure and moving forward. You are going to have rev share which will be more merit and performance based where a guy like Pena would make most of his money with the current social media following. But the NIL portion will depend a lot more on your marketability and following. 5,000 followers isn’t going to fly with 6 figure NIL deals and getting approved by the clearing house. As a side note, most of for players getting more than a million have hundreds of thousands of followers on instagram

So with Pena out, who had an updated deal AND McCord not returning is it reasonable to expect all those funds are available or was McCord a "special " buy and not part of the regular pool of funds? I would think if we even get part of McCords money plus Pena, that Fran can buy a high end LB and Oline maybe?
Linebacker and corner for sure. I know there gonna try to get at least one O-linemen with a few already leaving. I’m interested what they do with kicker. So with Pena out, who had an updated deal AND McCord not returning is it reasonable to expect all those funds are available or was McCord a "special " buy and not part of the regular pool of funds? We'll be able to offer Dijon Mustard at the tailgate now.
I don't think there is a villain here. Kid is making dough while he can, and Fran has set a limit on what an oft injured slot receiver is worth. Pena was a valuable piece last year but new day. I'm not blaming someone for leaving because of a C on the jersey or a coaching acronym. Kid wanted a bigger check. We said no. Moving on for our next entry or exit.
We already have it at North Manley, just saying. We'll be able to offer Dijon Mustard at the tailgate now.
Did HCFB have time left on his contract with UGA?NO.
You should be able to trust someone to abide by the agreements they made.
IF Treb wanted to explore his portal options, he shoulda done that sometime looooong before accepting the Captaincy, and completing all of Spring ball.
As Fran says - there’s a right way to do these things.
And a wrong way.
Peña chose the wrong way.
FFFF him. He’s dead to me now.
And I’m sure to Fran too.
And likely a number of his (former) teammates.
I hope he has a crappy season and regrets his decision every day for the rest of his life.
But other than that - good luck, kid.
It was TreborIm still not sure if Fran was talking about Trebor with the $2mil, or if thats just stories he's heard of receivers asking for that much

Fran accepted the job on Nov 28th and coached for UGA in the SEC championship game on Dec 2nd. UGA lost and did not make the playoff, and by mutual agreement he was allowed to skip on the Orange Bowl in early Jan because it was a month out from the SEC championship game and not the playoff. He did. Syracuse hired Coach Fran on or about 11/27/2023. Georgia still had to play the SEC Championship game on 12/2/23 and the Orange Bowl vs FSU on 12/30/23.
I haven't heard Coach Fran say anything about Pena not living up to his commitment or about Pena not being DART. I've only seen that stuff here.
Didn't Coach Fran say he intended to help Pena after next season? Doesn't sound like Coach Fran is holding any kind of grudge. Maybe people here should consider taking a similar approach.
I respect Coach Fran for not paying a player more than he thinks the player is worth. And I respect Pena for doing what he thinks is best from him.
I hate to see him go. I was shocked when I first heard the news. But it's time to move on and figure out this roster.
Trebor Pena, thanks for the memories. I wish you the best unless you're lining up against the Orange, then its Go Orange.
Coach Fran, thanks for being true to who you are. You do you. We have your back!
Go Orange!
Sure seems like he has lost his leverage. Fran is on record he doesn't think Pena is worth spending more on. The kid is in the portal and there is no going back. So unless there is demand from multiple teams willing to pay over 1M I think his price may drop. It's very possible Pena ends up getting less the he was getting here.
Look at what is happening to the Tennessee QB, schools aren't willing to be involved unless he gets to 1 million
