Trebor Pena transferring to PSU

He was always going to be an UDFA. Look at the really good WRs we've had that didn't get drafted. He's not better than them and he doesn't have eye catching athleticism.
If Meeks had another season like he did last year he would have gotten drafted. Same for Pena it’s production and consistency.

he made more money and has had about the same season he would have had here. How is that a bad decision?
How did he have about the same season as he would’ve had here? He was projected Wr1 lol ? Can you please explain ?

I don't think 25 for 200 vs 35 for 400 is much different given the scheme differences. he knew they had more talent at WR. He may have had 50-60 catches here and end up with 35-40 down there.

A ton of his catches here were scheme driving and on delay routes which we cant even run right now. how many contested throws did he catch because Kyle could make those throws? How many contested have we seen this year 5-10?

This. Everyone acting like he was dumb to chase the money but at the end of the day he was looking at a fleeting chance at the NFL at best so make your bank now. The difference in NIL seemed to be quite large so whether it was the QBs fault or not the money is in his pocket and he is in the same place he would be at cuse: a UDFA guy who might make a practice squad for a year or two. Its nothing against him, the NFL is just a top heavy sport.

He's certainly no AET, Erv, Ish, Meeks, etc. May be the difference between being an unsigned UDFA vs signed at this point though. He has 10 catches for 55 yards and no tugs in 4 conference games (all losses) thus far.

I don't think it's that simple. If it was about production, Amba Etta-Tawo, Steven Ishmael, and Ervin Philips would have all been drafted. Yet, Trishton Jackson, who had worse stats, got drafted while none of those guys did. Numbers get you on the radar, but scouts look beyond the numbers.

Do we think that Trebor Pena has any regrets over leaving 'Cuse and Fran Brown for Penn State now that the season is close to being over? With one game remaining he has 40 catches on the season for 416 yards and 1 touchdown. Whereas last year with the 'Cuse he had 84 catches for 941 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Now I clearly recognize he McCord slinging him the ball last year and that clearly is a factor.

As a comparison this year for 'Cuse, Johntay Cook has 42 catches for 521 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Not throwing shade at Pena at all, just a genuine question. I miss Pena and what he brought to the table for our team.

Nope, he made more money and had no QB for most the season either way
