The trip to the Big Easy in '03 remains the highlight but bringing my son to his first tourney game ranks a pretty close second...

Left northern New Jersey around 10 Thursday AM, got to hotel right at 1:45 PM. Had tried to get into team hotel but it was fully booked. So, ended up at the Millenium at Faneuil Hall. In retrospect, a great idea. Hotel is 5 minutes from everything.

Spent afternoon sightseeing with highhlight being Paul Revere's house in North End...lots of orange everywhere...one thing about Boston, it is a great sports town...everyone knew that 'Cuse was playing that night...

Went back to hotel and hear my name called in Lobby...guy I know from work who lives a couple towns over from was up in beantown on business with a couple colleagues. Turns out one of the guys he is with lives in the next town over from me...he is huge 'Cuse fan and we get to talking...figure out both our boys play soccer...not only that, they are playing against each other on Sunday and he and I will be coaching against each other...(OK, so it is not exactly a CTO-quality small world story...I didn't talk China policy with Kissenger, Fed policy with Bernanke or eternal life with the Dalai Lama or anything but we cannot let her have a monopoly on this stuff...little people represent!!!!)

Ate dinner at Lucca's in North End. Highly recommend. Great meal. Sat next to table with a father and son. Father played ball at Northeastern right before Calhoun got there. My sitting there with my son reminded him of taking his son to tourney games back in nineties...he agreed there is nothing better...

As people have posted, lots of Orange in the house but it was not nearly Albany '03...hopefully all those departing Badgers and Bearcats have been replaced by 'Cuse faithful...

Unfortunately, 3 baseball games, a soccer game and a cub scout breakfast conspired to keep us from being there tonight.

So, on the way home yesterday, I took him to Hoops Hall of Fame...orange there also...well worth a visit...Boeheim locker now my background on my cell...during the week, the place is practically empty and, at the end of the tour, there is a full court with hoops, a bevy of baskets from different eras and a dunk area with hoops of different sizes...he spent over 2 hours shooting until we had to leave...

I do think I've hooked him for life...he has now told me, and everyone else, that 'Cuse has to win tonight because he wants to go to the Final Four...

LGO!!!!

Great story. I'm sure that your kid will remember that trip forever.

Reminds me of when my Dad would take me to the Big East tourney in the late 80's.
