True fans hang tough with the team when things aren't going well. True fans try to find a silver lining in every ominous cloud which is on the horizon. True fans are willing to check their emotions before passing premature judgement on the coaching staff and the players. True fans don't become "haters" when they are subject to the frustration of a turnover or a tough turn of events in a close game.
True fans keep the "I over the E". The Intellect over the Emotion and don't let childlike immaturity cloud their judgement when things aren't going their way. True fans accept that mistakes by young players can become learning opportunities which may pay dividends in the future, perhaps in situations of even greater importance.
True fans support their team regardless of the outcome of a particular game and regardless of their win/ loss record. True fans realize that although college sports can seemingly take on a sense of great importance, in the end it is only a game and there are many things in life which are infinitely more important.
True fans also realize that the manner in which they behave, speak, act within the context of a sporting event reflects the manner in which they act in the matters concerned with their personal lives, their jobs, their relationships. So, the next time you feel compelled to act out because of some situation which is less than ideal from a fan's perspective, remember that the way in which you respond speaks volumes about how you deal with the Game of Life~!
Always a fan of Syracuse Sports... NO MATTER WHAT...
LGO!
What a wonderful game, season, and it's been an honor to be an Orange fan over the course of this football season while watching a rookie coach coach his heart out and capture the dedication and imagination of the team which looked to him for leadership and a sense of identity. Well done Head Coach Shafer!
