Tyler Rouse

May have been asked 1,000,000x before, but, atleast from what I remember, wasn't this kid about to "blow up" a few years ago? I remember him running wild either his freshman or sophomore year, even drawing comparisons to Mike Hart in terms of what he could accomplish stats-wise. Did he suffer an injury? He seemed like he was going to be one of those can't-miss kids when he was an underclassman.
He lost most of his offensive line. Saw him doing 7 on 7 this winter. Muscular, but only about 5'9".

Size and true speed may be holding him back a bit. I'm not sure he has grown much since he was a soph. But I'll defer to GO on him as he knows far more about him that me.

True. He's nowhere near 5'9". Think two or three inches shorter. This, in my opinion, is his main problem.

Speed? If you asked me 5 years ago, I would have told you he would be one of the fastest kids to come out of section 3 in years. Now... I think his weight training has affected his speed. He's still fast as hell, but I think he's lost some quickness... this is just an observation-- not based on any measurables (I could be wrong).

IMO, his psychotic weight training regimen has stunted his potential. Fantastic kid, but I'm not sure he got the best advice in this regard.

The weight, and the amount of PT and carries that Sanfilippo has loaded on him. Goes both ways plus returns. Doesn't get many plays off.

5'7" power back with a lot of tread wear. I hope he has all the choices in the world, but it's not a sure thing.

I KNOW that his sophomore year brought the big boys out in droves. Coach is also a Marrone fan.

Seems very odd if not. I understand that NYC is our focal point, but in Derick Peters and Tyler Rouse you have two local RBs that seem legit... granted, I don't know what their top-end speed is like, but if it's anything like their ypc would indicate, I don't see a reason not to go after them.
His coach was on TV the other night and said Tyler has 4.47 speed in the 40 and that three high majors had offered him including Rutgers. He also excels in the class room, is a great teammate and an all around good kid. He's also very strong.

Checkout this off season workout.

RU, UConn, Pitt from what I hear

we are focused on Howard from West Genny

How much does rouse weigh? If he's 5'7 but a legit 200 with at least 4.5 speed then he's a d1 prospect. That's ray rice. His body type or style may not fit with our offense though.

We also currently have two backs redshirting right now, have a verbal from Augustus, trying to land Laray and have offered naesean Howard.

Tyler's current stats after two games

He leads AA-1 in scoring with 9 TD's & 54 points next best is Jeff Edwards of L ' Pool 6 TD's & 36 pts
Tyler leads in rushing with 558 yards on 64 carries for an 8.7 ypc average next best is Jeff Edwards with 438 yds on 52 carries for an 8.4 ypc avg

For those of you in the TWCS viewing area FM with Ty Wheatley & Scott Shafer's kids are at B' Ville @ 7 PM

There are two other high school games on the tube tonight

Don Bosco Prep NJ @ St. Thomas Aquinas 8 PM ESPN2

Bergan Catholic @ Bishop Gorman 10 PM MSGPL

Another local RB to keep an eye on is WG's Nasean Howard. He has big time speed and good size for a sophmore...5'11" 185.
yep this is the guy to go for. Treat a some kids on that team. Already has offers from Oklahoma, FSU, ND, Florida, OSU, us and a host of others. Too bad for him his coach is...shall we say, lacking.

Ran the kid barely 10 rushes last week in a loss and in a non conference game at the dome the week beforee that meant nothing had a chance to win it with 2 pt. conversion at literally games end. Instead took a chance to try and tie it with a HS kicker knowing full well that the posts are 6 ft. closer and the kicker not so good. Of course it missed. This instead of giving to who is likely the best back in NYS.

Howard has offers from Oklahoma, ND, FSU, Florida and OSU ? For real?

Class of 2014 Naesean Howard, pictured here last season, ran 27 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns as the undefeated Wildcats moved to 6-0, beating the Utica Proctor Raiders 53-27.

Perhaps interest but I dont believe he has those types of offers. Judging from the rest of his post I think CR is confusing Howard with someone else.

yep that's him at WGHS and they're 0-2. One of the players is coming in next week so I'll dbl check on what he said, but yes I'm nearly 100% certain he's getting sick attention.

His bro is the one who got in trouble correct?

Is SU really looking at any other RBs other than Smith right now? Seems kind of logjammed. As far as Robinson goes, I hope he's matured. Word from people who went to Bville with him is he's a jacked up bully who likes to slam people into lockers to prove what a big shot he is.

Tyler Rouse the 5-8 dynamite running back from Baldwinsville NY just got a major boost thanks to Sports Illustrated. Tyler was featured in "Faces in the Crowd" where it stated that he leads the nation in touchdowns scored with 44 and his 2,766 yards rushing is second in America.

The running back he most compares with is Mike Hart who ended his career at Michigan as it's all-time rushing leader.

The two backs have several things in common, both are 5-8 and are (were) overlooked because of that.

Another thing is how good they are (were) in the classroom. Rouse sports a 92 average Hart's average was in the 90's.

Both Rouse & Hart were taken out early in the 3rd or 4th quarter in games that were already decided, otherwise their numbers would have been much larger.

Three things that Rouse has over Hart:

1. 4.46 speed vs 4.6

2. Strength

3. Tyler gained all of his yards against Class AA competition, Hart against Class D

A little birdie told me that some major colleges will soon be checking him out.

He may go from no offers and interest from only D1AA to something big.

Stay tuned.

I hope we're one of those major colleges. It would suck to lose the next Mike Hart like we did the first.

There are smart people who are saying 2 different things. One camp is saying that Tyler is very interested in SU and the feeling is mutual. Other people close to the program are saying SU hasn't even taken a look

Is that 4.46

Is that 4.46 time accurate? If so, we need to take a serious look.

Anybody who says they haven't taken a look are either lying or not that close to the program. Of course they've taken a look. They have and even if I didn't know they had, Marrone would not insult Sanfilippo by not giving the kid the courtesy of consideration. What they also do is give honest evaluations of local kids to let them know where they think they are at.

Every D-1 program in NY and surrounding states has looked at him.

Doesn't mean it's going to go beyond that though.

As for the Hart comparison, two very different styles.
