Tylik Hill

our passing game requires RB who can handle pass protection. I think as a runner Nixon is probably down 4th or 5th best. But as a catcher blocker he is probably #1.
If he’s our best blocker in the pocket that explains a few things.

Had another nice kick return against Clemson that I believe went for like 27-29 yards. I like Malachi James a lot seems like a great kid too, but there’s no reason tylik hill shouldn’t be starting at kick return from the sample size we saw against Colgate and Clemson.

Malachi does have terrific speed but has barely been able to show it due to play on the field and injury. He kinda just runs into blockers and isn’t very shifty. Tylik has NFL twitch and jukes moves which is why I think he’ll continue to get burn.

Agreed. Tylik has got the wiggle

I think they like Kerr because he's got good hands. A clean catch on the punt return is the #1 priority, no fumbles or bobbles. What yards we can get on the return is of secondary importance.
Good post. Fielding the punt cleanly is #1 (no turnovers), followed by good judgement (don't catch punts inside the 10; knowing when to fair catch; knowing what you can and can't get to on the fly when kicked away from).

Not every player is good at those seemingly basic, but harder than they look, skill sets.

Sure you are right about ball security. Seems that Kerr doesn't even field a lot of punts though. This is were we miss Pena he had the ability to make the first couple people miss. Wonder if Cook was another possibility if not hampered with nagging injuries. Will see what happens going forward. I like that Brown is willing to make changes were needed though.

He's listed on the depth chart as the kick returner this weekend. I thought that might be new. Nixon last weekend and Hart the weekend before I think.
Why do we list people on the depth chart like that? What advantage is there over just having the guy return kicks and then update it next week?

We need some new wrinkles with our current QB limitations. Tylik needs some touches. Love the wiggle

Nice. I see it now.

Hill catches the ball at the 5, breaks a tackle at the 15, reverses field, sprints to the sideline, turns on the jets! He’s got blockers, cuts inside, he’s at the 40, one man to beat and it’s the kicker who will not catch him! Touchdown! Cuse pulls within 22, 31-9 Pitt.
