U2...

How many other bands have done this entire album concert thing?

I saw Rush doing Moving Pictures in its entirety during the Time Machine Tour in July 2010.

The Tragically Hip did the Fully Completely tour in 2015.

Curious to hear other bands and who led the way with this.
Lots, The Cure have done two trilogies: Pornography-Disintegration-Bloodflowers and Three Imaginary Boys-Seventeen Seconds-Faith.

I saw the Pixies do Doolittle.

OMD has done Architecture and Morality and Dazzle Ships.

Bowie has done some.

Peter Hook has done several of the Joy Division and New Order albums.

Brian Wilson has done Pet Sounds and SMiLE.

I saw Peter Gabriel do So.

the lumineers as the open means you got another hour of boozing in the parking lot once they start up.

looks like my summer officially starts on 6/28...
I thought Mumford opens?

It got a little long, but found songs like The Price You Pay that I otherwise passed over.

He really had to kick it up a notch after Drive All Night or whatever slow one closes that record because the arena needed a jolt.

U2 has an interesting issue with this one - I mean opening a show with Streets is not really an option - wonder if they play 2 or 3 tunes then get into the record.
They basically opened with Streets for all in 87.

Bullet and Stand By Me being their other choices.

But, yeah, nothing wrong with a show opener and 1 or 2 others before giving it a go.

Yeah but now Streets is their Born to Run

Pride is about an assassination. Streets is about heaven and other things.
fair enough.

but, I was going for the song that 'made' them.

that one that took them from arenas to Stadiums.

and it needs to be loud and rowdy and angry...with 80k all singing/screaming at 1x.

Phish has been doing it for years. Just not their entire albums ;)

Tangent alert:

The movie "Killing Bono" was very good.
It's semi autobiographical about some contemporaries of U2 and their attempts at fame.
Bono comes off very well.

Love classic rock.

Can't stand U2. Think only Phil Collins is higher on my hatred list.

I'm a big fan of both! I don't like the sappy "One More Night", Phil, but his stuff with Genesis for the most part, and his early solo work I really liked. Not to mention that he was a fantastic drummer.

Cannot wait to see them this summer.
summertime stadium concerts are a lot of fun.

u2 did arenas a few summers ago, while the music is clearer, its just not as much fun.

last summers GNf'nR and the Boss were awesome times.

I last saw them in DC on the Elevation tour. It was at the MCI center so not a stadium. My wife wants to go to the Dublin stop but I would prefer to see them here in the States.

2001? Height of their powers. Was at that Thu night show, had to go to a stupid wedding the next day.

Seen them in all sorts of venues, Baltimore Arena in 2001 was great, like a high school gym.

It was 2001 indeed. Was an awesome show.

I am so pumped for this summer. Want winter to end already.

Yeah, I went to that too, was great.

Saratoga, August 1992, at the track, Zoo TV tour. I'd say the greatest concert experience I've ever had.

I just went back and looked at the setlist from that, looks like Bruce played about 11 more songs this past summer in DC. Wouldn't have guessed.

We got an Uber, let me know...

Looks like I am going to try and get to the show at MetLife Stadium. Anyone have any recommendations and where to sit or more importantly where not to sit?

I thought about going to see them there as well. I went to a couple of shows at Giants stadium and had 2 different experiences. Saw Bruce and sat way out in the upper deck. Might as well have just listened to a cd at home. Saw the Police on the floor in row 23 and it was fantastic. Assuming Met Life is pretty much the same, as I get older I just want good seats. If I have to pay a bit more, so be it.

if you sit on the sides in the mezz, you can go into the club/bar area for booze and bathroom breaks pretty easily.

otherwise, just be mindful that most 'stadiums' are around 60k and Giants Stadium is 82.5k. the upper deck can be high.
