Uconn and Cinci

For some reason I still think UConn will win this game. I don't really see Cinci being able to keep up that hot shooting from deep.

Of course, 9 points is a big hole for UConn to dig themselves out of. If UConn can cut the lead down to 4 or 5 points by the 11:00 mark, I think they find a way to win the game.

He was pushing him towards help defense. You clearly haven't watched much of him, kid is pretty athletic.

Looked slow and unathletic to me but I'll pay more attention in the second half.

I've seen alot of him. He hustles and has a decent jump shot, but he's nothing special defensively. "he routinely guards the other teams best wing", um no he doesn't. He hasn't been playign at all until recently. Roscoe Smith is their best defender.

Teams have been killing UConn from the perimeter lately.

That's why I'm rooting against Uconn. In the end, I think they will be the more dangerous threat to us. But we should be able to beat both of these teams.

Yeah Cincy will prob slow down from 3. But if Lamb doesn't get shots how is UConn gonna score? Everytime Drummond gets the ball he takes 15ft jumpers instead of posting up; Ohraki is uninvolved; Napier is streaky and could heatup, but he can also lose the game for them, so can't count on him. Who else do they have? Roscoe Smith, DeAndre Daniels, Niels Giffey, Tyler Olander.

So yeah, unless Lamb heats up UConn might have a problem.

Who's the stiff analyzing the game in studio? Did he just call Cinci's offense boring? Like Big Ten boring? Really? He says "all they do is set a screen, stand around, and put a shot up".

This guy obviously hasn't seen a zone defense before. UConn is playing a loose 2-3. Cincinnati doesn't have to attack it! They are giving up the open three on almost every single possession. Cincy will take those jumpers all day if they are allowed to. Boring offense? How about bad defense?

Also, scoring 40 pts in a half is much more than most typical Big Ten teams will do with their "exciting" offenses. This guy is a tool.

BTW, SU will SHRED this UConn team. If they are forced to play zone against us, they're toast. There is no defensive fire on this team at all.

And did you see how 'boring' that crowd is? What a bunch of stiffs. On almost every camera shot there is little to no reaction.

I just hope our 3's fall. Seems we have too many guys going through slumps right now. But, we seem to make them when we absolutely need a bucket.

Giffey will be eaten alive by scoop, BT, MCW or dion take your pick...

Looking that way.

Whoops, UConn never plays zone and hasn't in this game. Thanks though.

Really? Looked a lot like a bad zone to me. It is a match-up zone. Guys are drifting and doubling, Drummond is just hanging in the paint. If it was true man to man, they wouldn't be giving up open three's in the corner like they just did.

Thanks, though, Mr. Troll.

UConn is strictly a man-to-man team like Syracuse is strictly a zone team.

They just help too much and it gets them in trouble.

Thanks though.

It's not a true zone, in that players are playing a section of the court. Defenders are running side-to-side and following players cutting. The simple answer for Drummond is that he gets caught ball watching sometimes.

So when Syracuse presses, it's a zone press?

Or do you not understand the word "strictly?"

OK. Whatever you say. It's not a true zone. It's just UConn's pseudo version of what most people would call a zone. It's a man to man zone.

You know, it is ok for a team to play a zone. It doesn't make them any less masculine.

I know. That's just the way it is. Syracuse plays a fantastic zone. Calhoun is, for one reason or another, allergic to it.

Napier just kills that offense at times. Way too much dribbling, freezing Lamb out and trying to do it on his own.
