Nothing scary. Drummond is worse than AO from the free throw line.

Oh, and Calhoun is a terrible human being

We're the only scary team in the big east. I think this is the worst the big east has been in a few years. If we dont go at least 15-3 ill be disappointed.

Also can't forget this gem after they beat HOLY CROSS

Thread title: "Are we really this good?"

Post: "

I mean this team is scary and its not even peaked. I want to believe that we are 'that' good, but I am somewhat reserved because of the level of competition.

I have not seen a team like ours this season, so many weapons and so strong defensively shutting down HC that way. We looked like a semi pro team out there.

So I ask are we really that good, or do we need a high caliber test to really know?

I am cautiously perplexed......

I havent watched uconn outside of loosing but
Lamb, Napier, Drummond and Oriaki sound like a decent scoring core to me.

Not as good as Dion, KJO, Melo, Scoop, Triche, Fair, and Southerland though.

Lamb and Napier are good. Drummond is really raw offensively and will struggle in the Big East (evident today) vs. decent big men. Boatright has some potential too but I'm not sure if his size will play a factor or not against the bigger teams. Ohraki has taken about 50 steps back from last year.

The rest of the team is ok as far as role-players go, but no one really scares you or is an offensive threat.

However, if Drummond reaches his full potential and Orahki does what he did last year, UConn could be scary. But as of now, they are nothing to worry about.

I hate to be a stick in the mud but Uconn is winning on the road in the BE without Calhoun. They are playing @ USF which is always a hard game because of the distraction and travel factor. Drummond is light years ahead of were Fab was last year and Uconn is still learning life without Walker but they are easily the second best team in the BE behind us and has about the same amount of talent wheather its as developed at this point or not.

We have yet to win on the road in the BE and while I think Lville is a bit over rated Uconn is our main competition in the BE .

Without Calhoun? Is he dangerous from three? Hahaha. They would have won by 20 with that fat piece of garbage on the sideline tonight?

the problem is that drummond and oriakhi play the same role/position. they can't be on the floor together against anyone that is halfway decent. imagine one of them trying to defend kris?

Agreed. At this point, neither of them can create their own shot in the post.

USF played them even for 35 minutes. In the last 5 minutes UConn made half a dozen big plays... USF half a dozen bonehead plays (terrible shot selection, missed FT's, bad defense, etc). That's what separates good teams from the bad, perennial loser teams.

The difference between UConn and Syracuse can be summed up from tonight's respective games:

UConn's leading scorer, Jeremy Lamb, put up 23 points in their 3 point win over USF.

Syracuse's leading scorer, Kris Joseph, put up 0 points in their 26 point win over SHU.

Syracuse looked great tonight and Joseph is really good.

But Drummond is going to eat him & Fab alive. Deal with it. :)

In all seriousness, they're in the hangover phase right now. I think they'll get out of it. It's still an incredibly young team. I have no idea how you motivate a team of kids that did what they did last year.

Stay humble.

Go ask Patric Young of UF about that challenge.

Based on? What exactly is he going to do to Joseph, by the way? Dominating Holy Cross is so impressive to me.

Dunk on him repeatedly, for one. Like every other UConn big has done to SU for the past 20 years.

(Done trolling, seriously, SU looked amazing tonight. Herb Pope is lying on the side of I-90 trying to figure out who beat him up and left him on the side of the highway after that smothering.)

LOL, I doubt that Drummond will dominate SU's front line but he is at some point going to be a very good player and a pro.

I agree with your hangover statement. Although to me its more of a learning how to play after Walker who dominated the ball and was as key as a player can be for a college team. Very talented but a lot of that talent is new in Boatright and Drummond and I forget the wing's name. Wachting tonight Lamb really came through in big moments. I think Waiters will wind up being that player for SU but Joseph, Jardine and Triche are all capable.

we beat seton hall and herb pope had a bad game no need to for uconn to be making fun of him What.

In all seriousness though this reminds me of the time syracuse and uconn won back to back in 03-04 only we are switching roles. You guys were number one like all year that year.

Fitting because that happened the last time the big east was changing to the new big east as well.
time for drummond to attempt that dunk and miss like warrick over okafor with us up 15 at home :D

Napier is running the point right now, but I think he's better at the 2 with Boatright at the 1 long-term. Napier has had turnover issues at times this year.

Lamb at the one was, uh, interesting.

Disagree about the hangover part, thats a copout. UConn was a pedestrian team last year in the regular season too, they just got ridiculously hot at the right time. And fortunate with arizona and kentucky missing would be game winning shots in the tourny, and playing 1 of the worst teams to ever play in a national championship game. Theyre a good team but not great, lightening wont strike twice again for them this year in march.

I'd agree with the fact that they got ridiculously hot at the right time, but counting game winning shots to beat them seems petty to me. They had an unbelievable player in Kemba Walker that carried them. He was a stud. No way around it. Was the path to the title advantageous for them: yes. Did they deserve to win it based on the games they played: I'd also say yes. That was also one of the most unwatchable titles games I've ever seen, but that's beside point. Lamb is a very, very good player. But I'd agree with the sentiment that lightning isn't striking again.

I'm pretty sure Zls is joking guys.

At first I wasn't, but you know what?

1. It's your board.
2. It's not like they set the world on fire tonight.
