UCONN post game

FWIW, I'm 99% sure that Baye Moussa Keita was sitting a few rows in front of me. I was kind of excited about that and didn't want to shout it out and have him get swarmed or whatever but I can shout it here and now so I am.

Dude's a baller.
130? He was in one of the first rows outside the premium section. I saw him at a ton of games last year. Think he used to sit on opposite side.

Such a weird game. Th scoreboard was way closer than I thought it would be. I was expecting a three score W and we never lead by more than 14.

That being said the game itself was statistically not even close. I thought it would be a tighter game. If you look at the box score you would have thought we won 45-13.

Yeah the game was never really close other than the score. We statistically hammered them, as you said. 3 TD’s for UConn (2 at least, need to watch replay again and make sure I’m remembering it right) were a result of missed assignments or not wrapping up on a tackle (the 4th and 1 play). You take those 3 things away and the game is never really close. Now, I hate playing those type of games because those things did happen, that’s why the games are played. But in no way was UConn really in the game other than some brief periods of being competitive. We couldn’t run the ball at all, that was a concern. But we didn’t really need to either even thought we tried to force the run.

That's kinda been the m.o. all year though. We have had a bunch of games where the stats suggested we should've won by more than we did (or should've won when we lost). Play solid defense then give up a big play here. A special teams blunder there. Finish a good drive with a fg instead of a TD. Get an ill timed penalty or turnover. It keeps games closer than they should be. Happy for the win though.

470 passing yards. Kyle McCord is now the #1 QB in the nation for ATT - CMP and total passing yards @ 3,946. Be nice if he could surpass 4K against Miami which I think he will easily.
now it was late but i thoiught i heard Cam Ward was number 1 in the country last night on the huddle.
maybe they were talking about him passing kosar for miami number 1.
in any event Ward had lower numbers than kyle for the first time i haave heard this season.

This. Those 4-5 yard throws are generally an extension of the RPO game.

We are 8 and flipping 3. We’ve had exactly one season like this in what, 15-20 years? But people are mad that we didn’t cover.

Good lord.
and the second the Post game thread starts it’s a list of complaints about the team. Exhausting sometimes

100% the season is a success and winning against Miami and the bowl are just gravy.

That said this game was a win on the scoreboard but the road was frustrating and unnecessary. We hurt ourselves.
The refs gave a huge boost to the UCONN last drive by ignoring the obvious offensive interference call when the receiver grabbed kerr's neck and took him down - about the 3.5 minutes left

Again. Agreed.

Akin to saying, “I don’t recognize the 11-0-1 season in 1987 because we only beat 6-4 West Virginia by one point.”

Lots of brilliant and somehow unemployed coaches (or football savants) in our fanbase. Fascinating group.

The defense and special teams are dogwater. This team only beats Holy Cross without McCord under center
I think they were adequate at least this time... Yeah there were some missed stuff... But normally we gain points in the second half above the first, and other teams... This time were not. So I Think it was 'ok' I wouldn't say average.

He passed Ward.
