UConn postgame

I didn't have the heart to make any comments to UCONN fans leaving the dome. Now if it was their trashy basketball fans...
I’ll admit I saw two of them when I was driving down the hill and they were trying to cross the street and I gave them the finger. I don’t regret it. It gave me a lot of joy. Hate UConn.

Fran making them run sprints after the game I mean he really cares I respect that man so much I wish I could run out and play for him
He explained it on the radio or in the post game presser. Referenced telling team if they didn’t do their assignments right they were going to do it win or lose. Said he’s a man of his word and had to back it up.

The UConn board has taken great umbrage to this, they see it as a massive insult (I agree Lol). And its making me love Fran even more. 3d chess move.
We played very poorly. It looks like we aren’t very good and it will be an extremely challenging year this year. But those of us who aren’t complete homers already knew that.

Having said that, UConn is a complete crap program and their fans are totally delusional. They were close to winning, yes, but the actual better team won.

Fran has every right to be embarrassed as losing to UConn would’ve been an embarrassment.

We may not be good this year but Syracuse football is a 1000x better program than UConn. I hope they’re happy celebrating their crap wins over other little crap programs in their little meaningless existence from now until the end of time.

In the press conference, Fran said that he told the players that if they didn't play to the standard of Syracuse football in this game that they would run sprints after the game, win or lose. He wanted to keep his word to his players.

If we're being honest, UConn really had no business losing that game. I feel like they got too conservative with their playcalling in the second half. There were numerous times they could have given us a knockout punch, but just couldn't connect.

If the roles were reversed and we lost a game in that exact fashion, I would agonize over it for like 10 years.
Oh, absolutely. They pooped the bed.

Where it's nice to be able to score with little to no time on the clock, the first priority that late in the game HAS to be to score and take the lead whenever you can.
This is a popular opinion, but I think people are misunderstanding. Nobody is saying you waste a play trying not to score. You simply want to leave yourself enough time to run your three plays, and not much more.

Yasin scored with :48 left. Had he failed to get in, they had two more tries and one timeout. Had they run the play clock down the extra :24 they safely could have to :05, the play would have ended at :24 on the game clock. That's plenty of time to run two plays with one timeout. You could argue to snap it at 10-12 on the play clock and leave a full :30 after the play, but they definitely left more meat on the bone than they should have.

As a result UConn managed to get their win percentage back to 50-50 when it never should have gotten back above 5-10%.

If you play-call to spend clock time, IMO, you take a chance of not scoring.

You play-call to score and go ahead.

A lot to be unhappy with, but one thing Fran has installed flawlessly is the refusal to quit.

The games we had under DB where it was obvious the staff had packed it in, even in winnable situations if things went right. Was incredible. We won because the staff thought we still could and that all trickles down to the players who then need to make it happen. Winning a game like that doesn’t happen by accident.

Yes. Dino was horrible.

If we are being honest, the sprints immediately following a win while the crowd was still there (instead of at practice) was probably disrespectful to the opponent. Sprints were definitely called for, but the D in DART for “discipline” should probably also cover “class”.

Now, we can all say that since it was UConn it was funny. Still, considering we were out coached for most and maybe all the game, our coaches should have been the ones doing sprints. That’s the ACCOUNTABLE in DART.

There were lots examples of failure to execute, by players AND coaches. However, all of the above came through in the end to pull a victory from the jaws of defeat. I can't help but feel proud of all of them. Mora is a good coach and Uconn players were ready, hustling all game. Somehow, we scored two TD's at the end of the game. Nixon called good plays, Angeli and a bunch of receivers connected at the right time, and a freshman made two big defensive plays to carry the day. There have been a lot of clutch players in SU's history, and a few showed well for themselves today. Good, satisfying win...
